What is Clover?

Clover Networks, a First Data company (merged with Fiserv July 2019) offers a modular suite of Point of Sale systems (PoS) for restaurant and retail. This modular suite features fixed PoS stations, a customer loyalty program and gift card, an analytics module, as well as a mobile point of sale that Iplugs into the users smartphone and tablet to accept secure credit card swipes, as well as dips and taps like Apple Pay®, Samsung Pay™ and Android Pay™.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Clover terminals and scanners as part of the purchase of a food and beverage point of sale system called Bypass. One of the main reasons we selected Bypass was because of the quality of the Clover hardware and how clean and sharp the design looks. The Clover hardware, in conjunction with the Bypass software, allowed us to go cashless in our building from day one!

  • Continue to work on the design. What is fresh today can look stale in the near future.
  • Continue to work on reliability and dependability.
  • Better cable management between the terminal and the peripherals.

  • Merchants love it; very few complaints

Cons

  • Customer service could use some improvement.
  • Apps inside the "more tools" app are very unclear.
  • Dashboard is a little difficult to understand.

  • Ease of set up with one or multiple locations.
  • Ease of use from day to day functions to reporting to transaction investigations.
  • Simple and adaptable functionality with access to the tablet or the portal.
  • Intuitive back office management portal

Cons

  • Focus functionality on retail use and not broad based with focus on food services
  • Build a turn table into the countertop unit so both the employee and customer can use the tablet
  • Offer color choices in units (white is not always friendly with long term use)

Pros

  • Clover is great for finding local businesses around you.
  • Clover is also great for receiving discounts or promotions from these local businesses.

Cons

  • The setup of the app could use some improvement.
  • I feel like the app is a little confusing to navigate.
  • This may be difficult for older users who are not as comfortable or savvy in an app setting.

  • Clover has positively impacted our finances as we regularly purchase from our local shops for meetings or lunches and now we can save money/earn promotions.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used BluePay as our back end merchant processor to handle credit cards and electronic check payments. It serviced payments for all departments across our organization, but only our accounting team interacted with it. BluePay provided reliable, fast settlement of donations for our non-profit with very reasonable fees and pretty good reporting to facilitated auditing and regular reconciliation.

  • Reporting: We were able to find pretty much exactly the info we needed to be grouped as we needed it.
  • Payment processing: This is what they do!

Cons

  • Fees could have been lower; we negotiated to a lower rate with another company.

Return on Investment

  • Reliability: BluePay did the job every day for years.
  • Lower fees: BluePay saved us money by allowing our donors to give via ACH payment.
