I work as a Content Manager in Higher Education. We exclusively use Box to upload and share photos, videos, graphics, and any other pertinent content for the College. This cloud-based solution allows us to share large files with minimal effort to a centralized location. Upon uploading, my team has full visibility into the uploaded content.
Pros
Box has a phenomenal storage limit and houses 80% of our total content in the cloud
Box has a strong search feature that allows for ease of use when attempting to locate content
Box is compatible across Mac devices (iPhone, Mac, iPad, etc.) and offers a seamless transition for me when switching devices
Cons
Box's UI/UX leaves a lot to be desired. In comparison to platforms like Google Drive, Box is much less user-friendly and certain functions (such as renaming a folder) feels cumbersome.
Uploading times on Box are slow. Box also lacks a progress bar that articulates in minutes how long the uploading process will take, therefore, it feels as if you are waiting FOREVER for large files to upload.
The "share link" features are limited and doesn't allow people with the link to upload content to the folder.

Box has its advantages. In working in higher education, it makes sense to have an enterprise-level content management solution that allows for full collaboration and visibility with the current content. Through Box, teams can upload large photo/video files and share them cross-functionally with a click of a button. Because the software is cloud-based, Box serves as a decent Digital Asset Management tool. Where Box needs assistance is its lack of infrastructure that could support massive content submission. For our use cases as a college, I would love to be able to create a Box folder link and send an email to our college community (students, alumni, faculty, etc.) that would allow everyone to upload relevant content. Ultimately, Box is a powerful storage solution that we use daily at the College.
All students in our university are provided with the facility to use Box. Students are encouraged to store their research material and other stuff on it since it's easily accessible and has unlimited storage.
Pros
Unlimited storage
Easy synchronization of files to your computer
The interface is pretty straight forward and anyone can use it easily.
The files are stored properly and can be shared very easily for collaboration between users.
Cons
There is a file size limitation on box. If a particular file exceeds a given size, box wont be able to sync the file from your computer on to their cloud server.
The interface should provide the facility to do selective syncing of files from the computer.

Box is well suited for syncing any type of files stored on your computer. It is good for creating backups for your data which can be accessed anywhere. The software has apps for the pc and mobile phones which lets you access files on the go. The only issue is that there is a file size limitation and the software won't let you sync your files from the computer if they exceed a size set by the software.
Box is used by our organization as an alternative to Google Drive. It is used by the whole organization for sharing assignments and lectures among students. It has solved problems regarding data sharing among multiple members of the organization and among students. It is an amazing data storage option with the best plans and pricing available.
Pros
It has provided 50 GB of massive storage option with free organizational ID.
User friendly interface. You can easily create folders and upload files.
Security is much better as compared to other alternatives.
Cons
Nothing much to dislike but, there are few limitations that needs improvement.
Requires an internet connection while accessing Box.
Heavy files require fast and stable internet connection.

Box is well suited for data storage and sharing but, for free users storage needs enhancement. Free users should be provided with much more storage. It is a file storage category of the tech stack. We share data among students and members to deliver our lectures more effectively and to share lectures for later usage.
Box is used throughout the organization and is an efficient way to back-up, share data, and edit documents across multiple departments. It is most useful for backing up important data and reports in the cloud. It is also useful for collaborating and streamlining workflows, but it is more intuitive and easier to use than other collaboration platforms such as Github.
Pros
easy to install and set up
Cross- platform. Box can be installed on Mac OS and Windows, and you can always access your files online.
Syncing is done nearly instantaneously. All files in the Box folder have a checkmark next to them, and when they've synced, the checkmark turns blue.
Cons
I would like to see a free option for Box
Very large files cannot be synced unless you get a premium version. This is a bit of a drag, as I use many large, important datasets.
When you first install Box, you have to move all the files you want to sync into the folder, which can take a lot of time.

Box is a simple, intuitive way to keep your files backed up. It would be well-suited for business settings or personal use. Although I'd still like to see some sort of free option, the lowest-priced Box option would probably have enough storage to be sufficient for personal use. It is also useful for collaboration, especially when collaborators use different operating systems. Box can be installed on Mac OS and Windows.
Box is being used currently to share company documents, collaborate on projects, and to save files.

Automatic saving
Cons

Box is used well to collaborate with others on a team and saving/sharing files. Although, it does not have any tools that are greater than other programs. It is very similar to other sharing/collaborative programs and could be an alternate.

Most of our organization uses Box. We also have some other similar services that are available that are used more by other groups, but in the department that I work for, we are heavy users of Box. We use Box for file collaboration and sharing through Box within and outside of our organization, depending on the sensitivity of the information contained in a given file.
Pros
File sharing
File version management
File access control
Cons
Plugin documentation
Training
Likelihood to Recommend
We use Box for collaboration all throughout our organization as well as sometimes when working with external users. It has been a very good tool in our experience, with flexible use options through browser plugins and installable applications that can be used on the most common computer operating systems.

Departments here are very segmented, so I don't know if the whole organization is using Box but at least in the Marketing department we are. We use Box specifically for transferring large files for our video production team. It's great especially because the video production team works from all over the place.
Pros
Make file transferring easy
Collaboration
Cloud Content Management
Cons
Takes a little bit of time to learn how to fully implement it and get used to its interface

Great for teams that are decentralized and not always in the same office space. Great also for teams that have a lot of different tools already (Salesforce, Slack etc). that they want a tool to play nice with.

My university uses a university derivative of the Box cloud storage, CybOX, for all students and faculty to store and share files for free. This Box-based software is a university implementation of Box and has most features the same as Box. All students and faculty can access this CybOX by logging on to their university emails. Files can be shared with users or collaborators and can be accessed through web, desktop app, or other Box provided applications.
Pros
Box not only provides web accessibility, but the desktop app also allows users to sync, store, and share files in their accounts from everywhere.
Companies, institutes, and universities can acquire and launch special Box services that designated only for their employees, all the advantages will be retained, and users can have as much as unlimited storage space.
Users can view and edit files on the mobile app and do not need to install other applications.
Cons
Files uploaded directly through web sync immediately, but users can see some lags if uploading through desktop and mobile apps.
Editing through Box.com does not sync to the files sometimes, so it would be safer to edit and review files through the desktop sync folder directly. This makes the editing function not practical
When you and your collaborators are reviewing and editing the same .doc file, Box will try to save each saves trial to an individual file, and you will end up having multiple files rather than a single file with all the changes.
Likelihood to Recommend
Unlike Google drive that most companies or universities are concerned with using for data and file sharing, Box has a full range of features for file storage, retrieving, and sharing. Individual users need to purchase their plans to get access, while Google drive is set to be free to everyone to use for limited storage space. However, if your employer acquired Box's license, I would always recommend Box.

Box is used company-wide to share and collaborate on research projects, education-related documents, and work assignments. Many projects involve multiple employees and require the input of multiple people. Box is a very easy-to-use resource that permits this level of teamwork to occur. Each employee has access to their own Box account,
Pros
Seamless integration with Microsoft Office. Users can upload any Microsoft document (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and share it with other users. From the Box, one can access Microsoft online which allows the user to make changes and have them update in real-time within the Box.
Simple and easy to organize. Box has reasonable customization options while not overwhelming the average user. It is easy to organize files and share entire folders or individual documents with other employees.
Secure. Box can be integrated into a company's secure log-in service such as a two-factor authentication requirement.
Cons
There have been times when changes are made to an online Microsoft Excel sheet, for example, and the modifications aren't immediately reflected in the Box version of the document. This has been rare but has occurred nonetheless.
This is not necessarily a drawback but users should be aware that in order to edit a Microsoft file, for example, they must open the Box file and then make one extra step to open this document on the Microsoft Online website.
Likelihood to Recommend
Box is well suited for projects on which a smaller handful of individuals are working on the same project at the same time. I can imagine that for files that require the input of many individuals, Box file editing and sharing may run slower than desirable. Box will help seamlessly integrate desktop applications like Microsoft Office with online editing and collaboration capability.

It's been about a year since I started using Box. At the beginning the change was not easy since I was used to using Dropbox, but after having some problems with Dropbox (corrupt files, files were lost, I created a double folder, among several others) I decided to change. And as I don't like the Google Drive environment I decided to try the Box cloud to be able to share my work and files with my students, and so far everything is going well.
Pros
Its appearance is very tidy, everything is where it should be and even the combination of Box colors makes everything seem tidier. (I know maybe this is not important, but for me it was an important point to decide for Box and not for Drive.)
Loading files, while not the best, is quite fast and allows me to upload the files in just a few seconds.
The space in the cloud is very wide and in my case it is more than enough for me since I only upload text and PDF files.
The mobile version is easy to use, and I have no problem uploading files from my mobile, or editing files from the mobile.
Cons
When I started using Box, I found it less intuitive and less simple to use than Dropbox (maybe it was because I was already used to Dropbox), but the good thing is that it was only the initial shock, since after a few hours I was already using it no problem.
Likelihood to Recommend
Box in my case works very well for me to share files and texts through a link with my students. I only choose what I want to share, copy the link and send them to their emails and each one can download the file just by clicking on the link. It is fantastic since so far I have not had any problem with the upload or download of text and PDF files.
