Bluescape Collaborative Workspace

See it all in one place--quick-to-learn tool for team collaboration

Pros

  • Able to drag and drop other common programs--PowerPoints, PDFs, live links
  • Customizable templates
  • Mark up and add notes from large groups or teams
  • Visual storyboard

Cons

  • Chat function is less than ideal. It is easy to lose track of a conversation or a comment. We find making comments on the workspace turns out to be more effective.
  • Mentions--it would be nice to be able to assign groups within the people added to the workspace. Sometimes it'd be nice to do a quick mention with out having to do @everyone or type several names in (@person1, @person 2, etc.)
  • Infinite scalability

Most Important Features

  • Ease of use; cloud based
  • Templates and compatibility with other programs
  • The ability to alert someone to new content

Return on Investment

  • Especially in a remote work environment, Bluescape helps us continue collaborating without missing a beat

Other Software Used

Revit, Microsoft Teams, SketchUp, Smartsheet, Bluebeam Revu

Well suited throughout the early stages of the architectural design process

Pros

  • Allows for a high volume of images and sketches to be put into the canvas
  • Lets you drop in text, freehand sketching, and shapes quick and easy
  • Can connect images and texts together using connectors, which can be customized

Cons

  • Sometimes the order of things stacked on top of each other makes it difficult to click on things
  • The iOS app doesn't work well anymore for me on my iPhone

Most Important Features

  • The @someone feature is nice because it sends an email and takes you right to the commented area

Return on Investment

  • I am not the one spending money but I think it's worth it. We need some sort of platform like this, especially when people are working remotely.

Other Software Used

Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, Adobe PhotoShop

Bluescape Rocks with Entrepreneurs

Pros

  • Bluescape allows students to see what other teams are doing and this helps eliminate confusion on what the professor is expecting from students.
  • Bluescape use creates a sense of competition between teams as they can see real-time what others are doing.
  • I can point to any team that is doing well to set a benchmark for other teams’ performance.

Cons

  • You can use Zoom with Bluescape but it requires solid bandwidth and memory by users.
  • A breadcrumb trail would be nice to watch students performance.
  • I would like individual user analytics for each of my students to see where they’ve been and what contributions each has made.

Most Important Features

  • Collaboration Space
  • Real-Time visualization
  • Ease of use almost immediately by users

Return on Investment

  • I am only a user but my students see the value of the tool as it relates to their learning.

Great Presentation Tool

Pros

  • We have uploaded Ceros, PowerPoint, renderings and website links to our wall for new client presentations and they are always impressed with the technology.
  • Ceros is a pretty robust program that has links and different touch points and customers love clicking and scrolling through information posted.
  • We use one wall to post all of our customer boards so we can quickly jump into a different board and show new ideas or companies that we have done business with with a few quick swipes.

Cons

  • The (2) finger scroll sometimes doesn't recognize both fingers if a user has them close together.

Most Important Features

  • The ability to add many different types of items to our wall really helps our Designers and Client Development showcase an amazing presentation to clients.
  • The large touch screen on Bluescape gets the presenter more involved clicking and sliding within a wall instead of just reading or reciting a memorized presentation. It feels more interactive.

Return on Investment

  • I wish we would've known how to switch over to a Windows operating system from Linux sooner than we did. It saved us some money even though we bought a new computer to complete the swap.

Other Software Used

Microsoft Teams, Divvy, Trello

Convenient Collaboration Tool

  • Easy to add files, images, etc.
  • Help visualize an entire project on one screen/place
  • Collaborate with multiple team members in one convenient place

Cons

  • Occasionally there are connection issues, which can be challenging when we are about to present
  • More options for locking particular documents when sharing with multiple clients

Most Important Features

  • Convenience
  • Collaboration
  • Client Access

Return on Investment

  • Easy to use, even for first time users/clients
  • Clients enjoy feeling a part of a project with us
