Hatchbuck is perfect for the small company looking to get a CRM but doesn't have a lot of money to spend. It's a very useful system that lets the user better manage internal resources that are limited (like sales staff), and has helped us get much better organized.
Hatchbuck is being used across our entire organization. The goal is for our Inside and Outside sales teams to use Hatchbuck to track projects, leads, closed deals, etc. We are also using it to track new contacts and expand our database.
Pros
Very easy to use - Hatchbuck makes using the program a cinch.
Easy implementation - Merging contacts over from previous CRMs is simple.
Customer support is great - they are prompt and knowledgable.
Cons
The email templates can be a bit clunky and difficult to get used to.

I believe that you should use Hatchbuck if you want both CRM and email marketing - not just one or the other.
Our company uses Hatchbuck strictly in the marketing department. We find it to be a great solution to reach a specific group (large or small) of customers quickly.
Pros
Allows you to tag contacts on import in order to differentiate between groups of customers. This is great because when we are wanting to follow up with conference attendees, we can filter by that tag.
Hatchbuck sends out mass emails in waves in order for our email to NOT be sent to spam.
Hatchbuck has GREAT customer service. I have worked with the same rep from the date of subscription and have NEVER had to reach out to anyone else. If she does not have the answer for me, she will find out in a timely manner and not pass me along to someone else.
Hatchbuck seems to be a perfect fit for the functions our company needs.

If you are looking for a program that is simple to use, can reach a large audience with a click of a button, and be able to track the customers activity, then Hatchbuck is well suited for you.
I am currently using Hatchbuck mainly as a way to track my sales pipeline and track contact information for current and potential customers. Since I spend much of my time outside of my office it is important that I have a database that is easily accessed on the web.
Pros
The ease of use of this product was a key factor in choosing Hatchbuck.
The low entry cost and the fact that no long term contracts are required also played a critical role in choosing Hatchbuck.
The low cost also helped in my decision as I begin to use more of its features. I didn't want to pay a high price for a software program that had features I would never use or at least would not use until a much later date, in essence, wasting money up front. I have full intentions to fully utilize other great features, however, the low cost of Hatchbuck makes it a good value even if I were to only use it as nothing more than a prospect/customer database.
Cons
When creating a new note, I would like to see the 'Update Last Contacted date when saved' check box at the top and not the bottom of the page.

We made the decision to purchase Hatchbuck back in November and couldn't be happier with the product! We are able to manage all aspects of the customer experience and can do it from any computer in any country in the world. This is a great product for any small to medium sized business!!!
Hatchbuck is used for email marketing and lead generation. It is used by the marketing department. It helps keep us connected with our customers as well as nurture leads.
We are using Hatchbuck to manage our corporate communications to all of our marketing leads and customers. We send out 2-3 newsletters each month, and also recently started sending out invitations for webinars through Hatchbuck as well. Currently the only department using it is our Marketing team, but they are sending out information from departments across the company. It helps us manage our marketing lists by automatically unsubscribing any bounced emails, as well as tracks the recipients actions so we can better understand what they are interested in and then target more specific messages to key audiences.
Pros
Their customer service is above and beyond. I started using Hatchbuck when I started working here, and had no previous experience with the platform or program. The customer service team is phenomenal in replying to emails quickly, and offering to do a live web support session to go over any issues or to demonstrate additional features.
The Tags and Tag Rules system on Hatchbuck are extremely easy to set up, use and track. It has really helped us literally see what our contacts are most interested in.
Easy to read, understand and interpret data generated and presented by the software. It's very easy to see specific KPI we are interested in knowing.
Cons
One challenge I have is when scheduling and email to go out. With 12 different groups to send it to, I wish there was a quick and easy way to select my email template, and then select my 12 groups and just stagger when the emails are sent. Instead, I have to go through the entire process of scheduling the email to go out 12 separate times. It only takes 10-15 minutes to schedule the emails, but it would be great if it took 30 seconds.
Some of the features could be more intuitive. For example, I was trying to duplicate an email template and I couldn't find a way to do that. There are 3 screens - the list of templates, the edit more, and the save page. I looked all over the list page, thinking if I selected one, I should have the ability to duplicate it from there. Then I made changes, thinking the system should offer me to "Save As". I finally found a duplicate option, in the 2nd position, which just didn't seem like the "right" place for it.
Again - this might be something that can be done and I just haven't discovered how yet - but it would be nice to be able to export data from the email statistics to look at more in depth.

Many of the features on Hatchbuck are really very intuitive, easy to learn and great to work with. If a company is looking to have a new user own the task of managing contacts with Hatchbuck, I would say this is a great program for them. There is no experience needed to be able to learn how to utilize the system, and as I mentioned, the customer service team is fantastic in assisting with advising key features, how to use some great tools built into the program, etc.
