Bandwidth.com Rocks

Pros

  • Bandwidth has great customer service. They are all friendly and super helpful.
  • They are innovative and constantly updating their APIs, UIs, and products they offer.
  • Their UI and API are user friendly and intuitive.

Cons

  • They are actively working on this, but they currently are not able to work with third party SMS providers to separate voice and SMS. There are many companies that offer an SMS product for dental, medical, etc. offices so our customers have increasing requests to use a third party.

Return on Investment

  • I do not have access to the ROI so I cannot answer this question.

Your best primary term/orig provider

Pros

  • Customer Support -- Their team is very knowledgeable and they answer the phone when you call, which is a huge industry issue.
  • API (Service Integration) -- They have a very robust API with excellent documentation.
  • Rates -- Their rates are very competitive, and allow us to increase our margins as our customer base grows.

Cons

  • Their dashboard is lacking. We would love to see some additional graphing components, live traffic views, etc.
  • Their E911 infrastructure is still separate, making things a bit complex to provision endpoints and manage them.
  • SMS/MMS is a little behind competitors like Twilio, but still usable and very reliable.

Return on Investment

  • Bandwidth has impacted us tremendously in a positive way, in providing high-quality voice services to our customers at a very competitive rate.
  • When we have LNP issues, the bandwidth team is readily available to support us and give valuable inside feedback that we can provide to our customers.

Lots of features with abuse issues

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Bandwidth.com provides a number of affordable services. Unfortunately, they refer abuse complaints to their resellers, and many resellers abuse the system. I myself have received repeated spam phone calls about car warranties and the like, but bandwidth.com support does not deactivate the customer or reseller account after repeated requests. Think twice before supporting a company with policies such as these.

Pros

  • Low pricing

Cons

  • Abuse complaints

Most Important Features

  • Containing the use of their system to responsible actors.

Return on Investment

  • Unfortunately, repeated calls from resellers abusing their system has cost me a lot of time.
