Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Logic apps are straightforward to use and are great for managing resources with Management REST APIs. The free tier is also a great way to perform tests and development. Otherwise, it would be very expensive. App services for Logic Apps are still excessively expensive.

  • Stable platform.
  • Does not requires manual upgrades.

Cons

  • App Services plan that's extremely costful.
  • Lack of documentation.
  • Lack of python integration.

Azure Logic Apps - Powerful workflow tool

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Azure Logic Apps to automate the workflows mainly to extract the data from on-prem databases. My use case is to extract the customer related data stored in the database from the on-prem through gateway and load the data to SharePoint site for further processing. Implemented quite a lot of workflows targeting the similar extraction process.

Pros

  • SharePoint connection
  • Connect to SQL DB
  • Connect to Database from on-prem through gateway

Cons

  • Better user interface to develop workflows
  • Allow more than 500 workflow actions
  • All runtime retention more than default 90 days

Return on Investment

  • Easily automate workflows which reduces manual efforts and errors
  • Integration with other systems, other azure services
  • This tool helps business growth and adoptability

Azure Logic Apps Helps with Proof of Concepts and Steamlines Automation

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Azure Logic Apps for a variety of purposes, but it really shows it's strength in connecting other services from within the Azure ecosystem. For example, connecting Azure Service Bus so that when a message is received, it posts the message's body to an Azure Function. Logic Apps also can help connect services outside of Azure, mainly used as a way to easily access data from third-party APIs to retrieve data and then store it, message it, or post it to another application.

Pros

  • Receiving messages and handling them from Azure Service Bus
  • Posting data from Service Bus or third-party APIs to Azure Functions
  • Reading RSS feeds at regular intervals
  • Scheduling tasks to occur

Cons

  • To perform logic within the UI can be a bit tedious. It's very easy to click on something which can erase an ongoing mathematic operation.
  • I wish it provided better auto saving as drafts while working on existing logic apps
  • It would be nice if you could store templated steps that can be reused in other Logic Apps

Return on Investment

  • Azure Logic Apps have allowed for easy proof of concepts with little investment
  • Azure Logic Apps often don't require as much technical know-how or someone like a Senior Developer
  • Because of it's simplicity though, it's easy to overcomplicate things to try and force things to work through adding more steps.

Azure Logic Apps Overall Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to execute custom logic in C# to provide response to our service consumers with the search query. It simplifies the workflow of the function by solving particular business requirement, without having everything in a single service instance. Also the logic apps are automatically and highly scalable, which makes them extremely useful during the heavy load scenarios on the offered services.

Pros

  • Automatic Scaling
  • Serverless Compute
  • No Code Tools
  • Faster Integrations

Cons

  • Overall Pricing
  • Pricing for Scalability
  • Complex Workflow Configuration

Return on Investment

  • Pricing
  • Scalability

The best platform to create automated workflows with business app integration!!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I work as an admin support manager in a premium education management institution that is fully B2C. One of the main concerns our company had previously was to automate tasks with a central integration software without having to spend dollars on different software that did a certain job. But in the given time we did not have much expertise around integration software models or examples. With active search alongside the help of a few external consultants, we proposed a few software products to fit our needs, and fortunately, Microsoft Azure Logic Apps was one of them that we went for.

Pros

  • Create advanced and complex workflows
  • Easy deployment
  • Ability to host maps and schemas locally

Cons

  • More advanced action options can be added to the workflow templates.
  • More advanced workflow templates could be added.
  • Troubleshooting process could be improved.

Return on Investment

  • Increased adaptation to regulate company-wide changes.
  • Increased employee productivity rate.
  • Increased growth of sales and faster deal closings.
