I have been using Avid Pro Tools since way back when it was created and owned by Digidesign. Avid Pro Tools is the industry standard in recording, mixing and production for a reason. It's an incredibly powerful tool, and for audio editing, absolutely nothing beats it. Even though the production side of things has taken a back seat to our design/build work I still have a number of projects throughout the year that require editing, mixing and mastering and Avid Pro Tools is always the go to tool. As an aside, I do use Logic Pro occasionally for certain specific tasks (Stem Splitter, for example). But as soon as I need to do any editing, I bring it all into Avid Pro Tools. It's faster and easier to do in Avid Pro Tools than Logic (or at least it is for me).
Pros
Audio Editing
Recording
MIDI/Virtual Instrumentation
Mixing
File Conversion
Sample Rate Conversion
Effects Processing
Cons
Would be great to see a feature like Stem Splitter in Avid Pro Tools
I'm still partial to purchasing a license and not the subscription model that Avid has really pushed hard at.
The plug-ins that come included with Avid Pro Tools are great but some of them could use a tune-up or at least an updated version.

Again, Avid Pro Tools is considered the "industry standard" for a reason. The ability to record, mix and edit with such ease is something that I don't find in other DAWs. That may be because I'm a longtime user and so I may be partial. Still, I do use Logic and I'm very familiar with many of the processes in that DAW as well. Avid Pro Tools just does so many of them better and more intuitively. Editing audio in particular is one where Avid Pro Tools has every other DAW beat.
We primarily use this for podcast production, as well as other occasional or supplemental audio production needs for work with local arts organizations or marketing projects. This is a relatively narrow use case; it primarily serves folks involved with marketing, although it of course serves to benefit to organization as a whole. The software is highly effective at streamlining the audio production workflow.
Pros
Exceptionally deep shortcuts and workflow tools
Best-in-show control over individual audio clips
Excellent UI (especially for DAW veterans)
Cons
Very steep learning curve
Cloud projects are inconsistent
Stock plugins lag behind the competition

Pro Tools is undoubtedly the best option for folks who have extensive experience with digital audio production and need to manage a steady pipeline of projects with vocal recordings and significant control over the final product. It can handle software instruments, but it has less of a comparative advantage there as opposed to certain competitors. It's less well-suited to folks who are unfamiliar with digital audio production workflow; they'll still be able to use it, but they won't be able to enjoy the benefits of the software.
