Streamlined Interface: The software has a streamlined interface that is easy to learn and use, with intuitive menus and toolbars. This feature has been praised by many users who find it helpful in navigating through the software's various functions smoothly.
Affordable Option: Users appreciate the low cost of entry compared to the full version of AutoCAD, making AutoCAD LT an affordable option for their drafting needs. The affordability factor has made it accessible to a wide range of users, including beginners who may not require all the advanced features offered by the full version.
We use AutoCAD LT for developing technical layout for our customers, and small studies in 2 dimensions. It’s fast, reliable and relatively easy to use. I learnt to build my own macros and to customize the interface to my needs to get the work done even faster and once someone understand the simple logic behind the commands that are used, everyone can do it.
Pros
Easy to use
Easy to customize
Reliable
Manage big layouts without problems
Cons
Incremental savings (if possible) because autosave on big drawings took time to get done because it saves the whole file
Some custom macros that I made should be made standard (like infinite horizontal or vertical lines)
Likelihood to Recommend
Recommend to develop big 2d layouts. it’s in fact the golden standard for that kind of work, and for a reason. i worked on layouts that had literally the whole factory on multiple levels. and it handled without a sweat.
it doesn’t digest every kind of cad file, so for that reason it should be evaluated if multiple cad files are handled by the user. this program basically open just autocad files, not even all of the autodesk files.
AutoCAD LT replaced standard AutoCAD in my company 2 years ago as the workflow in my firm primarily relies on BIM (using Revit mainly) to issue the design drawings. However, engineers need to usually use AutoCAD LT in order to access files that were issued by 3rd parties organizations. AutoCAD LT offers wonderful level of service when it comes to 2D modeling and casual usage of DWG formats. The transition from AutoCAD to AutoCAD LT went unnoticeable in my firm, as the extra features in AutoCAD were not of great importance in our work flow.
Pros
2D modeling
Issuing drawings
Smart annotations and dimensioning tools
Cons
All LISP functions are missing on AutoCAD LT
Missing Architectural and Mechanical tool-sets
No 3D modeling of any kind
Likelihood to Recommend
AutoCAD LT is suitable for engineers that uses DWG formats casually and don't rely on AutoCAD as the main tool to issue drawings in the workflow. AutoCAD LT is best suited for firms that do not use LISP functions in AutoCAD and do not care about 3D modeling. Although AutoCAD LT has other missing functions when compared to standard AutoCAD, these features are of less importance and can't be noticed.
