We used Audiense when we had big social media accounts on Twitter and we wanted to analyze how their audience was composed. The kind of followers, their main insights, and the brands they were more interested in. It was a good start to separate the audience into very specific or clear groups, so you could start creating hypotheses about how you could segment the audience for future strategies.
Pros
Segment kind of users inside an audience.
Find out the main characteristics between these audiences.
A good starting point to create an strategy that needs custom segmentation.
Cons
To include more social networks that could help Twitter data.
An easy way tool from start to segment audiences that share similar characteristics to get a deep-dive.
Easy to use export reports or an API integration for a Data visualization tool.

When you start a strategy and want to discover how the audiense is composed, this is the first step to start exploring and then create your buyer personas with more details from other auxiliary tools (social listening, market research). Audiense is the best way to start exploring. It works better when you are dealing with big social media accounts when you want to explore audiences from a specific country or very specific interests. It’s good to import information from listening tools like Brandwatch to get better results about your audience.

We are an agency so use this tool alongside other research tools to provide digital insights that our clients can use to increase the effectiveness of their marketing strategies. This has allowed us to uncover valuable insights around potential and target audiences or uncover niche audiences that our clients weren't aware of.
Pros
Segmentation
In-depth demographics
Unique insights compared to other tools i've used - personality
Cons
Exports could be cleaner

This is a great tool for any business in my opinion. I have used this
for commercial clients (B2B) as well as Non-profts but I feel this could
be for a range of businesses as the insights are so vast. I have used
this to find niche audiences for clients in order for them to target
messaging to specific audiences which are more likely to engage with the
organization. I have also used this for competitor analysis for
smaller/newer brands that need some insight as a place to start by
looking at their competitors in order to start building their own
audience.
Audiense is a great tool to get valuable information about our subscribers. It allows us to accurately monitor the effectiveness of our accounts on key targets such as opinion leaders and journalists. The tool also allows us to explore the subscribers base of other accounts to detect new communication opportunities.
Pros
In-depth research among subscribers
Tracking of subscribers activity
Stats about subscribers base
Cons
the interface could be cleaned up
exports are not as easy as they might be
some functions (like DM posting) are not active anymore, even if it's Twitter's fault

Audiense is great (and to my knowledge is the only tool available for most users) to effectively track and study follower bases. However, it lacks capacities for someone wanting to do big-number research/analysis. It is best suited to reasonably sized audiences, up to a few tens of thousands of subscribers
We use Audiense to identify optimal times to post and build our target audiences for clients on Twitter. We have a wide variety of clients and need a product like this that delivers insight and robust data that we can pass on to our clients within each sector we are operating in.
Pros
Twitter audience building
Understanding follower bios
Understanding what type of content is resonating
Cons
Legacy data for community content
Extractable elements

The system works brilliantly for Twitter; however, for some use cases, we are limited if the client isn't using Twitter right now and their target Audience is on Instagram or Facebook, for example. We get great insight, and it's a limitation of the networks rather than Audiense, so we completely understand.
I use Audiense as part of my social media listening and analysis service. I create communities in Audiense via my social listening provider and then cluster these audiences by affinity. This data is invaluable when I am writing social or audience strategies for my clients. For me, the integration with Pulsar Platform makes a huge difference to my offering. Being able to understand the real audience who has talked about your search in this level of detail, as opposed to the traditional 'personas' really elevates the strategies I am able to create.
Pros
Audience Clustering
Likelihood of audience using various social platforms
Who influences the audience, and being able to filter this
Being able to get really specific about the audience you want to analyze if you're building your audience on the platform.
Cons
I would like to be able to download more of the charts as CSVs so that I can make my own charts easier
I would like them to include the likelihood of social platforms in their PDF report downloads

I either use Audiense alone as a starting point for my strategy, helping me to understand competitor audiences and their makeup, or later on during the process of a more in-depth social listening project. I think Audiense is incredibly helpful if you have no social listening experience and want to understand more about your target audience. It can also be a useful influencer identification tool, particularly with all the filters in your influencer report. Being able to select the size of the influencer audience, and analyze the data for influencers on specific platforms or with specific interests is really really helpful.
Deep understanding of digital target audiences and their interests, motivations, and needs, specifically in comparison to benchmark audiences and general digital behavior across different platforms. The overall problem is the need to increase customer-centricity, specifically to reach a better understanding of the unique perspective and context of the customer in its respective context.
Pros
Audience segmentation
Audience interests
Digital platform behaviour
Cons
Practicalities of using targeting packages
Cross-platform behaviour of audiences
Filtering out of irrelevant segments

Audiense is specifically well suited for the efficient identification of clearly defined target audiences and their respective segments. It is less suited for identifying broad or niche audiences which lack identifiable markers or criteria when it comes to their specific digital behavior. Overall Audiense works well for well-defined, well-integrated audience identification challenges.
We use both the Connect and Insights parts of Audiense. We use Connect for listening, community insights, and community building. We use Insights to inform content and campaign strategies as well as to identify influential people and entities. Both sides allow us to provide our clients with comprehensive analysis and insights, differentiating us from others as a social media service provider in the process.
Pros
Twitter Analytics and Insights
Audience Persona, Interests and Influences Data
Historical Data
Listening
Cons
Moving beyond Twitter as the proxy resource for insights
Improved automation between insights and campaign creation for Facebook/Instagram but recognize this could be more of a Facebook/Instagram issue vs an Audiense issue
customizable report templates for Insights

We have been a client for over a decade. The Audiense team has been collaborative and supportive in so many ways and with so many clients, going well above the call of duty. They have involved us in a case study and contributed to our book coming out in March. Audiense is one of our most valued relationships. Twitter has not remained competitive with other social media platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok. I can appreciate that Twitter being such an open platform means a tremendous amount of data and insights can be derived to provide value but I trust that Audiense will continue to evolve its solutions to augment the value it can offer to agencies and clients.
Audiense fits a key part of our social intelligence toolkit. We use it for a number of purposes:
To understand audience attributes and interests in order to inform strategy
To identify relevant (and often niche) influencers
To inform media targeting
To build consumer personas
To inform creative routes, including tone of voice and priority topics
To expand on insights from other platforms (e.g., social listening)
As a rapid way to gain brand and landscape insights for client pitches
Pros
Rapid, accessible analysis of social audiences
The ability to identify influencers in potentially challenging and niche areas
An understanding of the emotional drivers that underpin the audience
Demo+sociographic insights that can be used to help build broader personas
Cons
Larger (more detailed) network maps with greater interactivity
More options for network map visualizations
Auto-naming of segments is not great
Likelihood to Recommend
Audiense is great for identifying niche influencers, providing a rapid view of an audience, or getting an understanding of a certain topic. A key benefit of the platform is the pace at which it is possible to do this, and the intuitive interface, which means new users can very rapidly get up to speed on using the platform. While it does work well in isolation, we also find that it often works best when combined with other social listening tools and datasets. It can also be used as a first step to building consumer personas, which can then be expanded through other means (surveys, panel platforms, etc.).

Audiense is a great platform to understand social media audiences. The platform is intuitive to use, and the insights and information it provides are really rich. The tool has different features that provide both granular and aggregate data, which is helpful depending on the scope of the research being conducted. The team behind the app is world class and they provide support with any questions we might have.
Pros
List of users who follow a handle
Metadata behind Twitter profiles
Reports
Cons
Reduce the processing time needed to create a new report

Audiense is part of our tool stack for Social Intelligence, and it is used across all the markets and teams to support our clients' needs and business questions. We use Audiense to have a deeper and better understanding of the customers: 1. Understanding the segments/clusters of a specific Twitter user, a group of Twitter users discussing the same topic, or a group of Twitter users with the same demographic characteristics (to give some examples). 2. Answer the questions of who they are, what are their interest, who they follow, where to find them, when/where they are online and how is their personality. 3. Inform the definition of our clients' Personas and recommendations for targeting campaigns. Most of the data come from Twitter, so it's a Twitter-focus tool. From time to time this is a challenge, as in some markets or demographics Twitter isn't a top social media platform.
Pros
Clustering Twitter audience based on who they follow or what are their affinities.
Providing insights to inform the creation of targeted campaigns.
Sharing information for Media Planning (where to reach each the audiences).
Cons
Highlight what are the differences across clusters/segments
Adding other platforms information (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn...)

Understand who are the followers of a specific brand and their competitors. Identify key engaging content of the vocal users on Twitter about a specific topic. Use the Personality Insights module to inform the creation of bespoke marketing messages per segment identified. Unveil niche audience services for our client, hence new market opportunities. Go beyond socio-demographic information when creating Personas.
