Business Problems Solved

Articulate 360 has gained popularity as a reliable alternative to the Adobe suite, reducing users' reliance on multiple software tools. Customers have found value in its comprehensive suite, utilizing various tools like Studio, Replay, Storyline, Rise, Peek, and Preso for e-learning development. The software has been widely adopted across different sectors ranging from K-12 education school districts to large customer service organizations. It is used for a multitude of purposes such as ongoing training, onboarding and development of internal corporate employees, and creating SCORM learning modules on compliance, leadership training, product knowledge, and soft skills.

Instructional designers recommend Articulate 360 for its speed and ease of use, particularly with tools like Rise and Review. The ability to efficiently gather feedback within courses is also a standout feature that allows learners to make comments directly within the course and track them at the slide and layer level. Additionally, the software's integration capabilities make it easy to package webinars into on-demand formats and implement components onto websites. Users appreciate Articulate 360's mobile device support, collaboration through Review, and the extensive Content Library available for creating well-designed e-learning solutions. While occasional crashes have been reported by some users attributed to compatibility and memory issues with their computers, overall, Articulate 360 streamlines the e-learning development process and makes client reviews efficient.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

A part of our org, uses it for sales enablement, partner, and employee training. Business problems include upskilling, sales pitch practice, and soft skill/leadership development.

Pros

  • Suggests alternate ways of presenting text
  • Enables rapid development
  • Short ramp from learning to using.
  • Has an amazing support community and infrastructure.

Cons

  • For the AI features, the tool is lacking in allowing a variety of content types to be uploaded as source content for AI generation.
  • I've never been a fan of the navigation in the editor - it's sometimes hard to know if you are editing and/or looking at a preview of a specific feature.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited to rapidly develop a training project.
Less well-suited to making content interactive. I largely see 360 as a knowledge transfer tool with accessories. It's the same as plain text, just in a nice suit or dress.

Storyline

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Create learning content in Storyline, we have a full library of content

Pros

  • I like the button where you toggle one to see where you are in the timeline

Cons

  • No useful updates
  • Loads slowly
  • Animations could be improved- morph animation would be great

Likelihood to Recommend

It's really the only choice for creating online eLearning content in most cases

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Articulate 360 to create content to train content to train customers on how to use software.

Pros

  • Offer option to quickly create professional content with Rise
  • Offer option to create more custom content with Storyline
  • I can also use Articulate to get the content reviewed

Cons

  • Need ways to make bulk update to all slides. Many times I have to go slide by slide to make the same adjustment. This is time consuming and increases likelihood of human error - ex: i might accidentally skip a slide.
  • Today I saw other vendors that allowed content to be updated via SCORM without having to download and upload scorm to LMS.
  • Fix bugs - I often encounter random bugs.

Likelihood to Recommend

Any content training needs whether you need to create something custom and complex or something simple, you can do it with Articulate.

Using Articulate 360

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Storyline 360 and Rise 360 to develop customer focused self-paced courses. We develop interactive walkthroughs to simulate how our software platform looks, feels, and operates to provide customers with real-world application of what they will experience in our platform. In addition, Rise 360 has speed up the development time it takes to create the courses moving our content forward faster and more efficiently. We use the integrated knowledge check and scenario blocks to provide enhanced personalized experiences so our customers are better prepared to adopt our platform.

Pros

  • Record your screen to create simulated walk throughs.
  • Quickly develop courses using the templated learning blocks in Rise 360.
  • Enhanced themes and brand capabilities to align our trainings with the branding look and feel of our company.

Cons

  • Would love to see updates to the Storyline 360 platform to give it the same modern look and feel of Rise 360.
  • Storyline 360 only being available on PCs is a big hindrance to our daily use of the tool. Since our company uses Macs, we've had to find workarounds which are bulky and challenging to set up just to use the tool.
  • It has been some time since the templated blocks in Rise 360 have seen new options. Especially would love to see more of the scenario based blocks with different capabilities.

Likelihood to Recommend

Rise 360 is an easy and approachable tool for anyone to pick up. The eLearning Heroes website offers plenty of hands on support and training to get new learner up to speed faster. However, Storyline 360 is very powerful and can offer more customized and creative approaches to eLearning. The caution is, Storyline 360 has a high learning curve and is better suited for experienced Instructional Designers and/or learning professionals.
