It's still a great piece of software... if you don't mind a little bloat.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

After Effects is mostly used to come up with quick motion design elements we might use on the site, emails, or even some videos. Most of it is quite small, just simple things that already enhanced what we have created, transitions between certain products, or presentations to internal members. Though occasionally we do create longer works when marketing requires it, usually being put to use on the homepage or in social media posts.

Pros

  • Easy integration with the rest of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite
  • Industry standard
  • Work can be easily continue even when switching from Mac to Windows or backwards.

Cons

  • The program itself feels "heavy" so some de-bloating would help
  • Sync workspaces to Adobe Cloud so they can be loaded automatically

Likelihood to Recommend

Motion design, by far the best as I stated before. Creating and animating simple elements that while not needed enhanced the experience, to creating more complex designs and animations that are used in presentations or social media posting. Whether it would be internally to team members or more external posting that are part of a bigger marketing plan.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

After Effects gives more freedom to create motion graphics, editing videos, creating small big animations. Adobe after effects has multiple plugins that help explore more and enhance your creativity. It's video editing tools are very user friendly. Importing and exporting images and videos with far better quality gives encouragement to design more.

Pros

  • Motion graphic
  • Image animation
  • Video editing
  • Color balance
  • Remove green mat

Cons

  • Importing .gif
  • Manual frame adjustment
  • Title animation

Likelihood to Recommend

Once we were working on a project where we needed to create small animations videos as well as .gif. non of the other tools were usefull when it comes to create gifs and image animations. It took us very less time to create animations and we were able to deliver the project in time.

The sky's the limit with your imagination and After Effects!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I've used it when making videos/commercials for my business. It makes it easier to inspire imagination with, for example, a rocket than actually being blown up by a rocket! JA! Okay in all seriousness, I make fantastical family portraits and sometimes I need to help these adults who've lost their imagination see what children see every day in their minds to be able to sell the amazing portraits that I make.

Pros

  • If you know Photoshop, you can use this.
  • You can integrate this with Photoshop and basically all the other products in the Adobe suite.
  • There's audio editing, because, well, I stink at audio and have needed my audio saved before!

Cons

  • You absolutely need a higher end computer like a gaming computer to use this.
  • It uses a ton of RAM and then your computer complains about it.
  • Sometimes extra plugins, plus the RAM getting hung up, and not having enough of a high end computer can create the perfect storm of everything crashing and then you curse everything out that you were working on.

This is the best software for adding effects, audio, animations, post production, there's already some animation in it that you can just use and it all can integrate with any other adobe product out there. It's seriously robust and amazing. I think the only reason I'm giving it a nine instead of a ten is because After Effects will crash if you don't have a better computing computer and if you don't know how adobe uses layers, etc...then there is a big learning curve to this (they do have tutorials to help you).

Look like a big studio without having the big studio budget

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Adobe After Effects to help provide special effects and "wow factor" into training videos to help keep them entertaining and engaging.

Pros

  • isolating subjects and removing backgrounds
  • animations
  • creating title and credit sequences

Cons

  • Resource Use - After Effects is a huge resource hog. I'm hopeful that future versions continue the trend of improving on this

Likelihood to Recommend

After Effects is great for adding finishing touches to videos and making them appear as though they cost a lot more to make than they actually did. It's perfect for looking like you have a big Hollywood studio budget when you are really on a mac and cheese budget.

Have grown alongside this software for years, and intend to stick with it

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

After Effects is mainly used for 2D animations that would otherwise be too complex for Premiere Pro, such as stylized typographic animations, animation of charts, and sometimes simple simulations of product functionality such as airflow, button activation, circuitry layouts, etc. The US/Philippines Marketing department uses it extensively, as well as our marketing colleagues across the globe. After Effects is the middle ground between simple Premiere Pro animations and complex 3D sequences, as well as a convenient compositing tool. I personally use it as my primary image editor instead of Photoshop or similar programs.

Pros

  • Integration with other Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Compatibility with useful plugins.
  • Quick, easy motion tracking.
  • Puppet tool.

Cons

  • Preview playback speed.
  • Overall stability.

Likelihood to Recommend

For example, if you've illustrated something and want to bring it to life with animation, After Effects has the tools to make that happen, from shape layer manipulation to tight control of keyframes.

Another example is tracking in text to a 3D animation sequence. Text is cumbersome to work with in 3D, but with After Effects you can import the camera data and manipulate text, screen overlays, color corrections, etc. in a much lighter-to-process environment.

It's a very competent compositing tool for removing items from scenes. I was able to remove an entire moving car from a shot thanks to the clone stamping and painting tools.

After Effects is less ideal for traditional hand-drawn animation, where changes and decisions are made frame-by-frame, and better for vector-based animation.

Get ready for the After Effects- Software well built

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

After Effects is our go-to software for creating and editing graphic animations for promotional videos. It allows us to be efficient in creating title sequences, intros, outros, video packages, and any other VFX that need to be done for compelling and unique video needs. I have used this software for years in combination with Adobe Premiere and while there are other alternatives in the field, overall this is an intuitive way to keep our pipeline flowing well and without conversions. Everything about the software is not only easy to follow but also fantastic when combined with a well-built computer system. It has allowed us to quickly render and edit any digital pieces for business and I can see us continuing to use this fantastic program.

Pros

  • Rendering.
  • Editing.
  • Video effects.

Cons

  • 3D graphics.
  • Animation and rigging.
  • Title sequence creation.

Likelihood to Recommend

This software is extremely suitable for anyone who is looking to create well done video projects. Whether you are a novice or a pro this software is very user-friendly and, with more training, can make the most inexperienced video graphics designer/editor confident in their work.

After Effects is the address for great motion design

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a consumer electronics company, we have multiple digital software applications that need various animations and motion designs to make the apps provide a better experience. We use After Effects primarily for demo videos and motion design. It helps us quickly mockup or define a high-quality animation to help explain or demo a concept or deliverable.

Pros

  • Precise control of the interface and media using the familiar Adobe style makes it super easy to get familiar with and start using.
  • Ability to create and make use of other Adobe products through direct integration is super useful
  • Good demand for high-quality motion design and the most precise tool is After Effects for animations in digital interfaces.

Cons

  • The interface is too cluttered and the timeline has every feature crammed into it, which can be overwhelming.
  • Requires a lot of the hardware resources like RAM and disk space; could quickly hog everything if you have an underpowered machine.
  • No symbols or components yet like Sketch or Figma, but translated for After Effects.

Likelihood to Recommend

As of now, Adobe After Effects is a great animation tool and there's nothing that has as much precision as this one in the market. Other tools like Principle, Flinto, Aperture, and Final Cut can do the job, but Adobe's offering takes the cake.
