Webroot Advanced Email Encryption powered by Zix (replacing the former Zix Email Encryption, formerly ZixEncrypt) provides automatic email encryption and data loss prevention solution. It scans the content of outbound email and automatically encrypts or takes action based on user-defined policies, for any email environment to secure any mailbox beyond its native capabilities.
Mimecast's advanced email security remains the number one security tool available for any organization. You will be ahead of the game before anything gets in and users start clicking. Users are often the ones who can disclose sensitive data and compromise the organization and its brand.
Zix integrates well with Google Workspace to work seamlessly and behind the scenes. Whole message encryption (including attachments) can be programmed with a keyword or phrase in the subject line. Our staff finds that relatively easy to do. Plus, if our staff forget to add the keyword to encrypt the message, all messages are scanned for sensitive information and encrypted anyway. Great safeguard!
Simplicity: Once set up, Mimecast Advanced Email Security is easy to use, intuitive, and simple. This reduces onboarding time with new employees.
Robust Audit Trail: Being able to see what happened with specific emails, why things happened, and who was responsible for them helps to reduce troubleshooting time as well as improving overall email observability.
Clean Interface: Mimecast Advanced Email Security is a Swiss-Army-Knife of email security. There are many different configurations and complex rules that can be implemented. To make this manageable Mimecast Advanced Email Security has implemented a simple and clean UI. Being able to favorite commonly used features makes a huge difference in usability.
Simple SSO Integration: This seems like a no-brainer, but its odd to see how many SaaS products either don't support SSO, or make it so complicated and convoluted that setup and maintenance becomes a fully time job.
Zix scans outbound emails for personal financial information and encrypts accordingly.
Zix scans outbound emails for health information and encrypts accordingly.
Zix has an easy end-user interface enabling users to release false-positive encrypted emails without encryption and requiring the end-user to leave an explanation for why the email was released without encryption, therefore, leaving an audit trail.
Zix was very easy to implement on our email domain with a few clicks of the mouse.
I would like to see some additional improvement around the attachment protection, specifically what may be getting caught and what types of files are attempting to be delivered via email by impersonators.
The Targeted Threat Protection is a great product, and I wish there was a dashboard for this service where we could easily see the types of emails and/or links that have been caught as part of the protection module that could be shared with executives.
Finally, I feel that the phishing protection is great and honestly don't believe there should be much improvement needed there.
More flexibility to customize lexicon libraries at individual business units without having to apply that customization across all customers. We have some agencies that don't send HIPAA data for example but they do send healthcare terms related to Public Health aggregated data and it's difficult to apply customized exclusions or rules in Zix's current state.
Scaling across large, complex organizations is difficult with Zix because of the one size fits all approach that Zix takes. We are an IT service organization that serves 17 executive branch state agencies each with unique business requirements. As currently designed, we would need to have 17 different instances of Zix to accomplish the level of customization that each agency would like to have so it's a balancing act in serving the greatest number of customers with "One Size Fits All" service and realizing that no one is completely happy with the service provided due to the platform constraints.
I gave a 9/10 rating because with the 1 limited resources needs a bit of experience to work on the dashboard, and then Strong protection policies, reliable email continuity and proactive threat intelligence.
Zix is a great product, and it just works. There are rules in place to ensure that all email sent is safe and secure. With Zix in place, I feel confident that email is secured which means the organization is secured. If left up to me we will continue to use Zix.
As an admin it's fine, the console has some slightly annoying quirks (having to to go all the way back to the top when making changes rather than being able to just go up one level for example) and the object orientated nature of it takes some getting your head around how it thinks. But generally speaking it's decent enough once you've used it for a couple of hours
Zix is very easy for the user. In fact, it can be completely transparent to the end-user if you so desire. However, it does take a some work and testing to get everything set up just right initially. It isn't so much that the system is difficult to administer as much as it is that you have to really know what you want.
The availability of Zix has been very good. We have never had an outage due to an issue with the Zix portal or service. They plan their upgrades for off hours and do a good job of communicating any planned upgrades or outages well in advance. Zix has always been available when we need it.
there is no lag in transferring large encrypted documents. Real Estate transactions are horribly time sensitive and stressful. Zix performs flawlessly. It is always there, always responds without delay. It is probably dark magic.
When calling them you get best in the world customer services but as previously mentioned their online community and capabilities are a bit lacking. They want you to log into their portal to see updates on issues (vs. using a public facing service) and I rarely find the answers to my issues in electronic format. Their online presence is only helpful with the simplest of issues.
I give it the high rating due to the fact support will be rarely needed. Zix documentation is pretty solid, clear, and helpful. When contacted, Zix did a good job in resolving the issues and we were able to move forward without any issues on the zix side. The app is easy to use, and again requires little support.
The training is very thorough and well individualized for our application. It was done online with the trainer on telephone.I felt that they were truly interested in my success, and provided resources for follow up. The trainer was easily understood with thorough knowledge of the product and giving helpful advice for implementation.
The online training we received from Zix was very good. They did a good job of walking us through the entire setup process and also provided good documentation as a reference. It was valuable because we worked directly with our configuration and portal during the training. We weren't just working with a hypothetical example.
The implementation of the Webroot Advanced Email Encryption was really pretty easy and did not run into any major issues at all. The documentation could have been a bit clearer and the support a bit more responsive, but again, there were no real issues for us when we implemented it for our clients.
Mimecast Advanced Email Security is FAR superior. Sophos practically gave us the email for free and we still didn't want it. Sophos also does not do both Gateway and API properly. Mimecast Advanced Email Security's AI-Powered net is next level.
When purchasing it was important to implement a product that had a solid reputation. Many of the companies we receive records from use Zix so there was familiarity. The product had to be easy to use and the implementation had to have little or no impact on the users. Zix met all these requirements so we decided to move forward with Zix.
It has no problem with our workload. We depend heavily on the ability to transfer large documents securely through the system and it has never let us down.
We've had to beef up training and other email security tools because we get too many spam and phishing emails still with Mimecast Advanced Email Security in place. This is costing us at least an extra 15% annually in staff time and tooling than it should.
We have been pleased with data loss prevention with Mimecast Advanced Email Security, it does identify PII and auto-encrypts emails with PII effectively.
It does have the ability to integrate with other security tools via API, which is beneficial.
Having encrypted email shows to our members and potential members that we are sophisticated enough to know what is necessary to protect their sensitive data.
The only negative impact is that sometimes when we are sending emails to other businesses, they are blocked from going to an encrypted email site. That is very frustrating.
