WatchGuard EPDR (formerly Panda Adaptive Defense 360) combines next-generation antivirus protection, endpoint detection and response (EDR), patch management, content filtering, email security, full disk encryption, and more, into one package. The platform touts a unique zero-trust security service that certifies the legitimacy and safety of all running applications thanks to a combination of automated, AI-driven processes and investigation services provided by a team of malware analysts.
I think Trend is well suited for businesses that need an all-in-one malware/antivirus/EDR solution. It works well and runs smoothly in the background not hindering the users. Our only issue with it is the use of it and secure browsers for state testing. The EDR wants to automatically blocked the use of secure browsers setup by the state.
We offer Watchguard Endpoint Security as a low cost alternative to Sophos Endpoint. As such, I would recommend this product to anyone with a customer with that same sort of mindset. It would also be appropriate for customers with a more 'basic' environment as configuring profiles is far less in depth compared to Sophos.
End point implementation: the roll-out of Trend Micro was extremely easy!
Server/Device policies: creating both endpoint and server device policies is something we were looking for in a system, since we have a variety of both endpoints with users, as well as several unattended servers needing specific limitations.
License Management: removing Trend Micro from machines before destruction or retirement is done in a pinch. There's no struggling to free up an unused license
Only thing I would have to say that's negative is the reporting aspect. Basic reporting is good but still lacks some details. This is a problem with many of the software vendors I have encountered in the past as well. Reporting is still much better than most.
It is very easy to stick with a vendor year after year, and it is also easy to see the faults in a product and want to change. This is the first time I have renewed with an antiviurs provider as others have been less than ideal and caused issues where there were none before, so while it isn't perfect, it is the best of the bunch currently and I am hopeful that it will continue to improve in future versions.
I will definitely renew the software licenses on all our clients when they expire.Again, I have never worked so well with antivirus software before today. Watchguard is an extremely adaptable software to our business needs and I don't think I want to try other solutions that the market offers
The dashboard is user-friendly and allows for an IT admin to quickly deploy the software. The users do not even notice the program running in the background. From the dashboard the IT department can monitor all the workstations for issues and maintain good health of the network.
Easy and intuitive MSP management portal to manage all of your clients from a single pane of glass. Policies can be pushed down globally or individually based on needs. The client portal allows access to their tenant information and installs only which is nice if you are working with clients who might have an internal person or an IT team that also wants access to things to manage themself.
The software is 100% managed on a cloud platform that can be managed via an account even if they are not present within the company network where the software is installed, I even always opened the control panel on the browser of my smartphone to monitor the situation.I have never experienced any abnormal software crashes
The only annoyance I complain, if we want to be picky, is the fact of the constant disconnections from the control panel.Every about 4 hours the account logs out even if I set the "remember this device" flag; having said that I have not noticed neither slowdowns nor conflicts with other software
It has been difficult at sometimes, the support people at one point told me that they couldn't tell me information about OfficeScan because it was knowledge that was passed down from engineer to engineer. The issue was that if you used the msi for the install any further installs would require the msi to have the same exact name or else the install fails and corrupts the install. This information is not listed anywhere on trends website. Support kept trying to get me to use the exe for installs instead, but we use SCCM and msi's work better. We had to write a script to come up with a solution so that we could uninstall the software and install the new software. Trend did provide the technical expertise to help with the script and had us work with one of the developers in order to resolve that issue. So they did fix their screw up but it took a while and several complaints.
I gave it a 10 because I compare it to air conditioning. I need it to work every day, 24/7. I need it to be reliable and not something that requires a ton of interaction from staff to make sure it works every day. In addition, I should be able to run other things at my house when the AC is on. Panda fits that description.
The training was very helpful. It demonstrated how to configure the service for initial install, items to monitor, and how to set up for ongoing protection. Hands on training is more helpful but this is a good starting point
Implementation shouldn't present any problems in standard office environments. In environments with development teams, however, caution is needed. If zero trust is enabled, mechanisms must be in place to ensure that internal software isn't classified as a false positive (software certificate, exception folder, etc.)
When comparing trend micro apex one to Symantec Endpoint Protection there is a definite and stark difference. Symantec cannot find or stop viruses but it has an easy to use agent upgrade management system. On the other hand Trend micro seems to find and stop numerous viruses including things that are not viruses. And the upgrading used to be an issue but it is supposed to be better now, in apex one
Way back in the day, I have used Norton end point security and really did not like the speed at which it tried to do its job. I know I am dating myself here. WatchGuard Endpoint Security, I feel, is light years ahead of Norton's product. WatchGuard Endpoint Security is FAST, ACCURATE, and truly an enterprise product.
With the implementation of watchguard (at the beginning Panda Endpoint, but it is the same) I was able to insert in the control panel all the unauthorized software previously installed by colleagues without any authorization from the various department heads.Now any licensed software goes into lockdown and can be unlocked from the control panel
