Wasp Inventory is an asset tracking and warehouse management software offering from Wasp Barcode Technologies,. It includes features such as inventory control software made easy to eliminate costly write-offs.
It's well-suited for companies of a smaller size that want to easily manage their shipping needs. When you are working in a small team environment you often are tasked with "wearing multiple hats", that's when a shipping software like ShipMonk comes in handy. People can collaborate and work on the same task at the same time.
The Wasp Inventory system is best designed for the small to mod-sized business that is looking to create an inventory system that goes beyond the utilization of paper or Excel options for managing product. Wasp [Inventory] provides an entry-level approach to inventory tracking that is ideal for those who are not looking for an in-depth system that can be utilized for your supply-chain needs. In the case of Wasp [Inventory] it is a very compelling choice for those who are new to inventory and looking to begin the inventory process.
We were looking at upgrading our version (we're currently running on-Premise Ver 7.0) - but they have now moved to a yearly recurring licensing model. The cost is about $3500/year for cloud-based Wasp Inventory - whereas our Version 7.0 was a one-time purchase. They also offer an on-premises version that costs about $6500 - and then a yearly 10% recurring charge on whatever the current cost of the software is being sold for. Neither options are appealing to our district whatsoever, so we will be staying with the version we have for the foreseeable future
Their online form to request product information for purchase doesn't seem to be well-maintained. I reached out three times over the course of three or four weeks before I finally got a response. And that was just that my information had been sent to a local reseller of their products. We used to be able to purchase directly from Wasp, but that appears to not be an option any longer.
ShipMonk often offers better pricing and user interface which stacks up really well against their similar competitors. As a small business, you often look for all kinds of ways to help your company save money where it can, and when you can do that in one of the most costly departments (shipping) it's an easy choice to make.
This system was already in-place when I was initially hired, so I don't have a history of looking into other companies currently, with similar offerings
