It works extremely well for investigating the root cause analysis of events because you can see so much detail into what was happening before, after, and around the detective incident. A weak point would be when the AI gets a little over-aggressive or doesn’t quite understand the use case for specific tools. Our RMM tool was detected as a pup.

Vipre is clearly a well suited antivirus program both in the professional world as well as in the home environments. Vipre offering the same price per seat to protect the typical personal workstation as well as the robust office server is a major plus.

Cons
  • Possibly for compatibility with legacy Windows OS's and non Windows OS's.
  • Some settings are greyed out and unable to change but I believe this is to protect you from making a bad configuration change.
  • Could do better with reporting at the base level subscription.

  • The patch management feature could be updated. It doesn't work all of the time.
  • Some updates cause issues with computers. This has happened a couple of times but I was able to get a hold of someone at VIPRE support and work through it.

Usability
There are some minor issues with the platform that can be mildly frustrating, but the overall performance, peace of mind, and ROI make it worth using. The management console is intuitive and easy to learn, the endpoint clients are simple but give IT professionals enough data to make management easy and simple

VIPRE is very easy to use and administer. You have a lot of functionality from the server on what you can do with the clients. It has proved useful when I can't access a client any other way. I can reboot the computer from the server and then usually get back into that machine.

Support Rating
Their support is good and quick to respond. The one issue we faced was when a non-protection issue arose there was a lot of dancing around trying to figure things out. This was frustrating as it took significantly longer to figure out issues. Lots of repetitive log gathers, screen caps, uninstalls that never seemed to resolve issues. Eventually, the product would be updated and the issue seemed to be resolved, but seemed to be the only solution.

VIPRE support is usually pretty quick. Sometimes you have to get a lot of information to send back so they can see the issue. This has not been too bad and I understand why it's needed. VIPRE also has a free rescue tool that is very useful and easy to use. There have been others but VIPRE seems to keep theirs updated. It's my go-to even outside of work.

Alternatives Considered
In the distant past we had used iSensor through Dell. I can't say much about iSensor because we never really had it show any incidents or activity or reports. It might be better these days but from what I can tell, SentinelOne is the Gold Standard currently.

We use FortiClient on our end-user workstations, for the VPN capabilities, but the antivirus was a little too aggressive for our servers. Vipre solved that problem. We used ESET before FortiClient, but was not pleased with the changes brought on by version 6.0, so we looked else where. Vipre fits our server needs just fine.

Return on Investment
  • SentinelOne has already proved its value by stopping attacks that would have gone otherwise unnoticed until much later in their infection process.
  • The Vigilance team has provided quick response to threats that were not easily contained via the automated response SentinelOne's agents provide. This has given us a significant piece of mind.

  • We have had zero downtime due to a virus or exploit getting through the Vipre software capabilities.
  • We saved over 3k$ over Symantec and others offers.
  • The alerts that my IT team gets in real time has saved us from many issues as we intervened before users often knew there was the potential for problems, saving us time and money.
