OpenText Business Network vs. TIBCO BusinessConnect

OpenText Business Network is well suite for SMB clients with limited technical resources who are looking to branch out into the retail / wholesale space and be able to accommodate these larger clients especially when they require EDI. While not the most robust of the solutions on the market it is easy to onboard and very simple to use.

If the environment has many different protocols for data exchange between partners and most of the protocols follow some standards like EDI X12, TIBCO BusinessConnect should be a good tool to take care this business use case. If the environment has a few simple protocols for data exchange, e.g. SFTP, FTPS or emails, some lighter weight tools will be enough and TIBCO BusinessConnect may be an overkill tool.

• TIBCO EDISIM supports customizing X12 messages as per client requirment.
• TIBCO EDISIM supports exporting customized messages to EDItoXML and XML to EDI transformation artifacts.
• BusinessConnect engine architecture processes customized messages (an organization can customize message as per their need).
• TIBCO BusinessConnect supports multiple hosts to exchange messages. One can build B2B hub/platform using this feature.

• When a new version is released, its better to test it thoroughly before letting customers apply the release in their real time environment. There were missing functionalities from the previous versions which were not identified ahead of time.

It is a really simple tool that is easy to pickup and intuitive for users especially IT, Operations and Sales associates. Reporting tools are very easy to pull together, filter, export or visualize what you are looking for

The main reason TIBCO BusinessConnect was selected is because of the overall solution it provides with the different TIBCO products. Since TIBCO BusinessWorks and TIBCO Enterprise Message Service are already in place and the canonical model is already built and integrated into the Information Bus, TIBCO BusinessConnect is the best tool to work with them.
