User Testimonials
OneTrust Tech Risk & ComplianceVanta
Likelihood to Recommend
OneTrust is well suited for mid-scale IT industries and mid-size infrastructure. OneTrust is excellent in Data privacy and Cookie compliance. And lLess appropriate for large-scale enterprise risk management. It is SSO and ADFS enabled. OneTrust is having great capabilities to integrate with other APIs and third-party security software.

Vanta seems excellent for startups, but I expect that they would be even more useful at bigger companies. I think it really helps people that haven't done SOC2 before. I also think it would help in monitoring compliance across teams with many users. If the budget is extremely tight, I think it would be possible to save money by not using it.

Cons
  • Documentation chasing for assessments is not as automated or hands-off as demos made it seem.
  • Getting custom risk matrix set up required professional onboarding.
  • Platform is less than intuitive.
  • Pricing is module dependent and demos do not highlight which module is included in which workflow.

  • Alerts and employee onboarding and offboarding were not entirely complete when we started using the product.
  • It would be nice if we could assign policies to specific people in the Vanta app.
  • Sometimes, refreshing the tests when you make the changes to pass takes a little more time than desired.

Alternatives Considered
OneTrust is more focused on providing an assessment platform than a vendor risk monitoring platform. This difference is why we chose OneTrust. For some, this will be a failure of the product. However, if you take the time to define risk for your organization based on the sensitivity of the data and the inherent risks of a vendor based on infrastructure you will create a unique and understandable metric for risk according to your organization. This adaptability is the strongest feature of OneTrust.

Osano and Vanta both meet our requirements at a comparable rate. When comparing quality of ongoing product support, we felt that Vanta is the preferred option. For feature updates and roadmaps, we preferred the direction of Osano over Vanta.

Return on Investment
  • More uniform vendor assessments.
  • Defensible numeric metrics reflecting risk.
  • Centralized document repository for audit proofs.

  • In my experience, they aren't really helpful after all. They ended causing more problems when documents went missing on our trust page. They caused us some embarrassment when we referred people to a mostly empty page.
  • They are now attempting to, in my opinion, force us to renew service.
