NetWitness Network vs. Tripwire Enterprise

Netwitness is an industry leading tool. If you can figure out how to use it, the data is crucial to investigations. The support is improving, but has some distance to cover before they are up to standard for an enterprise level.

Tripwire Enterprise is great for hosting/data center environments and it greatly helps where console screenshots and reporting fill a lot of our client internal audit needs for security and change control.

• Full packet capture allows look back on security events
• Packet reconstruction is essential to make sense of packets captured
• Threat analysis of captured packets provide additional indicators of compromise

• It allows us to track development changes for engineer accountability.
• Tripwire Enterprise also allows us to monitor changes/updates being done to our systems in our hosting centers.
• We use the software to track user access and critical system changes.

• The meta part to form the dashboards were a bit complicated
• The user interface could be made more understandable

• In previous versions the management console was a little hard to navigate in some respects.
• I'm sure this has changed over time but we hope the reporting system has gotten more granular.
• I really don't have to many cons for this product, I recommend it for every company I work for!

It was more advanced and comprehensive . The personalized dashboards and view was the major likeable difference . The correlation could help us analyze better and was more effective , the drill down features gives more information at one go
