User Testimonials
LitmosVector LMS and Industrial Manufacturing Training
Likelihood to Recommend
Litmos is greatly suited for delivering courses that have a timeline or where the content needs to be consumed in its entirety, and for tracking and validating the completion of that content by users. It is well suited for microlearning and quick and effective course creation and learner testing. Litmos is less suited for creating courses where pages are linked together or for quick reference content which might be better served by a knowledge base.

A good scenario for this program is when you need to roll out more customized and specific content that is targeted to a specific department or group. Each leader or department can create their own content that makes it easy for their own employees to complete and finish it at their own pace and on their own hours. It is not that great for leaders or administrators that want to create and upload custom content, this process is not easy and takes more time than it should.

Pros
  • Litmos is simple and straightforward for learners to use
  • Litmos' look and feel are highly customizable through javascript and stylesheets
  • Litmos' API is fairly easy to use and complete
  • Litmos makes launching and deploying training in the field and the office easy and quick

  • The user interface and command are fairly self-guiding and self-explanatory. It's not that difficult to know or figure out where to go next or what to click next.
  • The lesson progression and tracker are clear as well. You know easily where you are in a module, how much is left, etc. It also is easy for managers and those on the backend to track progress and see completion.
  • It reaches all employees virtually which is crucial since we are fully remote now and have employees in all time zones across the country.

Cons
  • I generally feel that any challenges I experience are due to the vast flexibility the platform has. My gut tells me that my minor issues are actually a result of certain functionality needing to be there to meet the needs of other customers, and it's not Litmos' fault that my specific workflow doesn't fit exactly into their functionality. It's a matter of me determining how I can update my workflow to fit the feature set.

  • Customizing the [Vector] LMS content can be difficult sometimes on the backend, it is not intuitive and our [Vector] LMS administrators have to get involved every time - even for simple customizations.
  • Improving the experience on the backend when loading or curating content needs improvement. Once it's uploaded it's fine, but getting to that point is cumbersome.
  • Platform stability is questionable at times in terms of timing out, glitches, having to restart modules, etc. This should be looked into and made more stable.

For what we need in the very near future, Litmos does not offer us the required capability. Ideally, we are looking for an integrated LMS, coaching, mobile support and content creation platform. Litmos may have the LMS part covered but there are other platforms that do this better along with providing an integrated all-in-one service or at the very least support API integration with other vendors to meet our requirements.

Usability
It's overall pretty straightforward to use — both for admins/creators and learners.
  • Teams really give a great ability to decentralize management.
  • Great content creation tools
  • Integrated live sessions
A few wonky workflows persist, though:
  • Reporting has some limitations (e.g., 30 day limit, ugh)
  • Search is rough and we get reports that content can be difficult to find
  • More granular admin/editing permissions would help

Support Rating
If I could give it a negative rating I would. Worst support from any program I have had. Everything is back and forth in the support ticket. The one time I tried to chat they could not support the question. Their support page is so full of sections and products I can never find anything I need, even with a customized home page. I was hopeful that once they left SAP support might improve but it has not. I don't even know who my account executive is. Nobody has ever reached out to me. I need someone to guide me through best practices for our company and there is nobody to do that.

In-Person Training
It was a good overview of the platform, but of course it was more of a basic overview of how to use the platform. The team provided a good training, but I would of liked a better deep dive into some of the features.

Online Training
Some of the best online training I've taken from any LMS platform. It was well put together and kept me engaged the entire time. It has a good amount of HR Compliance mixed with soft skills training that the team liked. Overall, it has a robust online suite of training that any company can use.

Implementation Rating
We have done two implementations. The first wasn't completed by me, but the second was. I had to do a lot of data migration across from the first system into the new instance. This was really time-consuming, and it would have been great to have had an option for someone else to have completed this for us. Learning about the tool has also been up to us, and whilst the content was good, it was also high level and broad, and then getting into the specifics of our setup was really just left to us to complete on our own and have a go. We got there, but probably could have been faster with some additional support from a consultant.

Alternatives Considered
Litmos has been more robust for us in terms of reporting as well as course organization. We also have the ability to use a subsite (another instance of Litmos) for groups outside of our main organization.

I was not involved in the selection process for [Vector] LMS; however, from my experiences with other platforms, this one seems to be solid. It's not perfect as no platform is, but it seems to get the job done especially for those on the user end. As mentioned, if you want to upload custom content it can be a task that requires more time and effort than it should.

Scalability
Pretty easy to scale this LMS and can be deployed companywide in all departments for us. The team's function allows you build separate teams that can easily be assigned specific courses, so it makes it much easier to deploy

Return on Investment
  • Reduced learning times across the business, therefore lowering the completion payment.
  • Improved business wide compliance by over 60%.
  • Gave us the ability (via our LMS) to quickly gather reports on key learning requirements.
  • It provided the ability to react to any potential issue by quickly sourcing and building a course after identifying a safety issue.

  • I cannot speak to the cost of the platform as I wasn't involved in the process, but it seems to be a good investment. Most features are logical and easy to use unless you're on the backend.
  • The negative impact is most felt by leaders that want custom content to be created or uploaded. This is not a quick turnaround and can cause delays or issues.
  • The positive impact is it allows people to complete it at their own pace and can be reached by all employees. Especially in the virtual environment, it is really useful.
