The onboarding process has been quite productive throughout with the best team. The customer support team is able and ever on alert when requested to assist. It has simple user interface which is not the case with other similar platforms. The training modules are easy to understand and put into practice. It meets the set threshold and complies with company principals.
If you had an individual, group or a multitude of groups that you would need to train, this platform can work wonder and minimal time to do this as well. You can basically assign your whole company a list of things at the same time rather than assigning each person each individual asset.
There would be a scenario when reporting is unexpectedly requested and its needed in detail so you can easily in minutes grab a report off all individuals/groups, what assets they started, stopped, when and where they stopped, if they completed something etc. Rapid reporting is my favorite part.
I really like their library of leadership videos where leaders share their best practices. They're short and easy to use in a variety of settings (e.g. trainings, business meetings, etc.).
I find Skillsoft to have strong customer service. They do a very good job of listening to your needs and advising a variety of solutions within the given parameters.
They are getting better, but keeping up with the IT times and keeping their site modern and user friendly
Compliance - we had 2 seperate interfaces between the compliance part (Academy) and the Business Courseware catelog and our custom content - this created a lot of confusion around what was what. Support and the usablility of Academy was not up to par with what we were used to with the normal SkillPort.
I would recommend to renew as this is part of our employee development goals and we make a strong commitment to develop employees' people skills. I think SkillSoft has a very innovative approach to develop people's interpersonal skills other than traditional classroom learning.
Because the skills learned from the course have proven to be beneficial in the day-to-day tasks that I typically perform. They are either directly related to or at the very least a complementary skill set that allows me to perform my duties overall in a more beneficial way to the people that I support.
The integration between the main Skillsoft portal and Books24x7 could use improvement. Most users don't realize there is actually a separate books portal because the link to it is not that visible. Yet, once they discover it, they realize that the books portal is actually easier to use to search for books, ebook summaries, and videos.
Just that it takes a village. It cannot be done alone. Everyone needs to know what you are doing and what their role is in the implementation. Tightly managing the project management schedule and resources is important in ensuring that everything gets done on time, and with quality. Education is KEY
I use a variety of sources for training, some because they're available at low cost through my employer, others because they offer courses in a specific niche. I like Infosec for the range of subjects and learning paths that are applicable to my current objectives. The courses are well-made and provide useful and purposeful information.
I've written my own, used Pierson, and many others - and in fact, Skillsoft have purchased or acquired most of the better ones -- and there really is no competition in my opinion. They really do a great job - when you get the best at Harvard Business School as topic teachers, you've got the best products.
After my courses, I was able to obtain my CCNA (passed [on] first attempt) and my CCNP (passed [on] second attempt). This is far better than the average passing rate.
Professionally, I [got] a new job as a network engineer and then promoted to a Network Engineer II after completing my CCNP. I have seen a 40% salary increase over the last three years.
