INFINIDAT InfiniBox vs. Lenovo ThinkSystem DS Series

This is suitable for a mid-to-large scale environment. It requires fiber switch access and fast fiber uplinks to your network, but the ease of management is worth the cost. Once the INFINIDAT engineers completed the initial install, it has been a completely hands-off approach and it just works - and works flawlessly.

It works very well for essential data storage such as security footage. It is well suited for remote office storage, but not so much as large database storage.

• They are very easy to maintain and repair.

• There are a lot of xclarity tools that need to be condensed.
• I would like to see the old IMM interface return as the new management interface is not as easy to use.
• Replacing some of the internal components is more involved than it used to be.

GUI is much more user friendly and is not buggy. They ship the INFINIDAT with additional hard disk space, more than what you purchased, and you can unlock those drives for an emergency if needed, without even a charge. If you need it permanently there is an extra cost, but to be able to expand so quickly provides peace of mind.

I much prefer the old x systems as I have worked with them for a while. The ds series is much faster and more reliable. Servicing it is simple but some internal components require more involvement.
