IBM StreamSets vs. Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud

When you are dealing with a data warehouse and want to find an easy way to integrate applications and expose data in real-time, then IBM StreamSets is the best tool to go for. I'm using it for the same purpose in my applications. This tool will be well-suited for someone with a proper technical background. Though IBM StreamSets UI is mostly drag and drop, advanced configurations require technical expertise or support to do the initial setup.

Informatica Cloud is a great tool for use when data must be formatted consistently. Once configured, it is very robust and reliable. It is also well-suited for an organization without a robust IT staff to maintain a full server infrastructure. It offers a cost-effective approach to high-quality data integration for even the largest organizations. Organizations without staff experienced in data analytics may find it challenging to take advantage of the more complex results of this tool.

• It makes building data pipelines quite super intuitive even for non coders.
• Ir also handles real time data ingestion effortlessly so I always have up to date information for my reports.
• It's great at monitoring data quality as well.

• Once the secure connection is established it’s quite easy to operate and create new jobs. The controls are simple, and we appreciate the fact there are not a lot of complex fine-tunings required. Navigation is also easy, and we enjoy the ability to open multiple tabs in the browser to work on multiple projects.
• The monitoring functionality works well to help track the progress of the jobs, again, without too much complication. In a fast dev environment, speed is essential and we quickly seeing the status/progress of jobs as well as any errors if the jobs fail helps us maintain speed.
• The web interface is a lot easier to interact with than the client/on-prem version. Putting much of the heavy lifting of interacting with the tool onto the shoulders of the browser makes it easier to keep multiple sessions open and get in/out quickly without having to VPN into the office.

• The User Interface can be a bit difficult to get in initial stages.
• Error messages are hard to understand which sometimes takes a lot of time for the resolution
• Cannot Implement complex SQL queries which should be fixed in future release.

IBM Stream sets has been a wonderful addition to our technology stack. It has helped in some of our initiatives such as data engineering, data integration for not only external customers but also for internal purposes. The tool has also helped on our use cases related to streaming data. Moving to another tool would require significant amount of work and time.

The StreamSets platform is very easy to use and the interface is extremely intuitive. The drag-and-drop, low-code design makes it accessible for teams with varying technical skills, allowing us to quickly connect sources, define transformations, and deploy pipelines without heavy coding. StreamSets allows us to get started quickly and not have to worry about our pipelines breaking once they're built.

Streamsets support has improved a lot in the last couple of years. We had some challenges in the beginning with support, but now the quality of the support and the responsiveness to tickets are better. We have contacted support multiple times when it came to scenarios where the system was slow or the output as not as we expected

I've never had trouble getting into contact with Informatica's support for technical help. I give it a nine because it does pretty well for mid to enterprise-scale workflows.

the IBM solution can be considered a good player in the specific perimeter of application because its main functionalities are working well, are easy to use, and complete. it allows also a good degree of freedom when it comes to personalization of pipelines and streams, and customization of data ingestion methodologies.

First, the wizard is easy to use making the learning curve for simple ETL tasks nice. Second, since Informatica is mature there are a good variety of connectors available. Finally, we have driven some fairly complex ETL solutions using only the cloud.

• Cut costs on the number of staff we need for data import.
