IBM OMEGAMON vs. SYSVIEW Performance Management

Certainly, the tool is useful for debugging applications and for real-time monitoring. It's a bit less useful, not to say useless when applications are client servers. We have used it heavily above all to optimize the DB/2 applications. We managed to reduce the need for additional MIPS year by year.

Any z/OS monitoring. I don't know of any performance monitoring scenario where it doesn't excel.

Naturally, during the software selection, other tools from other similar vendors were compared as functionalities. more benchmarks have been made to control the Omegamon overhead on applications. certainly, it has influenced the fact that the mainframe base software is IBM and Omegamon is IBM so the compatibility problems are automatically solved.

SYSVIEW replaced TMON. Today it seems like a good choice. We tried OMEGAMON and just couldn't get it to work the way we liked.
