Hunter.io is very well suited for any sales rep who is building out lists of contacts for email outreach, or for marketer's looking to reach out to PR and marketing contacts for link building campaigns. The tool is a great free option if you are doing targeted, 1:1 personalized outreach and you need a few contacts. The tool can be expensive if you are needing to reach thousands of people. A paid version of Hunter.io is not a great fit if you already pay for another list building source such as Data.com or Discover.Org.

If you are trying to escalate quickly and talk to many people use ZoomInfo Sales. It's great for prospecting and creating call lists according to different personas and parameters that you may have like employee count, phone numbers, emails, data accuracy, etc. In my opinion, organizations of all sizes could benefit from ZoomInfo Sales if used correctly.

Pros
  • Provides email domains very well. While some companies have a different domain for their "info@xyz.com", Hunter is able to find the domain that is being used by individuals at the company.
  • For American contacts in particular it is very good at finding personal phone numbers.
  • Helps to enrich the contacts that might be in a company by providing a confirmed list of employees.
  • As an extra - I really like how easy it is to use. You can input the contacts name and copy-paste from the chrome extension quickly and easily. This saves a load of time when you are trying to find the right address.

  • Zoominfo provides us scoops regarding any new upcoming project or pain points (difficulties) facing by certain companies which helps a lot in our business to contact such companies.
  • Zoominfo gives us the exaction info such as email address, Direct or Cell phone number of particular contact which we want and we don't get anywhere except zoominfo
  • Zoominfo has huge database. Intent is one of the favorite section where we get the exact info about the companies/industries which we want
  • Zoominfo Connects with Hubspot which is another benefit for us to add any specific contact directly to our HubSpot app.

Cons
  • There have been times when I've search Hunter for an address on a website and it came back with no results. Then If I search the site I've often found an email address or two. So I'm curious why it wasn't able to find it with the tool, even when I could on my own?
  • I'm not sure what the reasons were exactly why LinkedIn ordered the cease and desist, but I had hoped they two companies could come to terms or that at the least LinkedIn would acquire Hunter. But alas, it's not been the case.

  • For initial users, the system can be a little overwhelming. A ZoomInfor SalesOS Basics guide could be beneficial to keep new users from feeling lost amongst all the options.
  • Clearer instructions on how to set targeted search parameters for inbound information would be beneficial.

With the combined resources of crowdsorced info on both data.com as well as the immediacy of info on LinkedIn, as well as intel on Hoovers, information provided on ZoomInfo is more readily available if you have the time to invest in looking for it. However, at the pace we do business, having a "one stop shop" for information is very convenient. On efficiency alone, ZoomInfo is worth the price of subscription considering our business model.

Usability
No answers on this topic
ZoomInfo is easy to use, the tutorials and videos and help are well done for learning. The team relies on it heavily to obtain contact info, identify decision makers, research company information and locate leads in their areas. I appreciate being able to obtain missing contact information from trade show lists.

I would give it a higher rating but they keep changing our account managers.

There would have nice while providing a great platform to use, to have an in person class to show how it would best serve us and to navigate. Nothing was provided to myself outside of having a sign on and the preloaded steps to get through basic processes

Alternatives Considered
Hunter is a much more user-friendly version of Clearbit. I personally also find it to be more accurate than Clearbit. With Clearbit it felt like too many clicks to get to the information that you wanted. With Hunter, it is a simple copy - paste - click, to get the information you need. The additional list of contacts it provides and the verification source is also more readable.

Demandbase has outdated info. No good way to export contacts. There is no sidebar; you have to use the tool on its own to find people, and the information is unreliable. It's not user-friendly. Zoom has all of that and more.

Return on Investment
  • Hunter has vastly improved my efficiency as a seller. It saves a lot of time for a lot of different reasons.
  • The ability to confirm target email addresses saves valuable time having to re-send the same email to one person with multiple different attempts.
  • Hunter has a pretty generous free trial ability, which is worthwhile in order to try before you buy.

  • Zoominfo Sales has reduced our company research effort by at least 80%. We now have all the information in one place.
  • TAM (total addressable market) data accuracy is significant.
  • AOP planning is flawless, i.e., allocating budget, sales resources, etc., by territory.
