VERY useful for small companies where one person does an entire job/task. May be less useful for larger companies, as it would be difficult to maintain, and there are usually teams to cover the slack. Also good for tech purposes. Our tech people constantly create Guru cards in order to help us learn to do back-end things.

Scenarios where I found them appropriate: 1. Short turnaround time for hiring in the engineering team, to free up their bandwidth for more critical tasks 2. Having a diverse set of developers onboard (higher variety of tech stacks) 3. Experienced developers skilled in their tech stacks 4. Flexibility of hiring developers for project based engagements Scenarios where they are not well suited: 1. Unfavorable for addressing issues in person, since collaborations happen virtually only

Honestly, As I stated, Turing was a total waste of my and my company's time. We cannot employ outside of the US or Canada, even though an agency like this. If they were upfront about what they truly are, and overseas employment agency, I would have never signed up for it.

Return on Investment
  • 100 times better than writing up and printing multiple training manuals & presentation handouts!
  • Team members know they have easy access to any and all knowledge so they can refresh at their own pace without the need for repeat training sessions/presentations.

  • Honestly, none.
  • Turing was a complete waste of my and my company's time. Nothing they did but they were not transparent upfront on the residency of their developers.
