I think that FreeConferenceCall.com is well suited for anyone, really. They do a great job at providing options for all types of scenarios-from basic phone calls to now offering the video conference. The only time I think that it might not be as advantageous to use is when there are only 2 people that are needing to connect-in that case it's just as easy to direct dial

Vonage Business Communications excels in scenarios requiring seamless remote work, such as virtual teams and remote workers. It's also ideal for businesses needing reliable disaster recovery solutions. However, it may be less appropriate for very small businesses with minimal communication needs or those with limited budgets, as the comprehensive features might be more than necessary.

  • Clear calls, it is easy to hear no matter how many participants are on the call.
  • Does not kick participants off, we have up to 40 people on the call and it works fine.
  • Easy to remember, the phone number and code is the same so it is easy for staff to recall.
  • No busy signals, we can always get through to set up call.

  • Eliminates physical phone consoles that can be pricey and unnecessary for staff.
  • Has a companion app that allows you to use your personal cell phone to check messages or make calls.
  • The desktop application is easy to use and has a number of customizable settings so that the app can be minimized but alert you of incoming calls.

  • Recently callers cannot get onto the call
  • Users on the call get bumped off
  • Non-transparent policy about why problems are occurring. If FreeConferenceCall.com can't reliably provide free service, just tell me that rather than blaming it on a law that changed and local carriers causing the problems. The real problem is that the law did recently change, which allowed companies like FreeConferenceCall.com to collect a revenue share for all calls placed through certain hubs--even free calls. This loophole was removed recently, and I believe the service issues I've been experiencing are being used to extort users to buy a paid service in order to receive trouble-free service.

  • Relies on internet connectivity (no separate trunk like an on-prem system).
  • Phones can be on the expensive side if you purchase through the Vonage store, especially conference phones. Thankfully Vonage is so flexible and is compatible with phones purchased from other places.

I thought it had very practical and useful usability. It has a clean and simple interface with large fonts that make it easy to read. It isn't particularly difficult, although figuring out some operations may be a bit challenging. For the most part though, it isn't very difficult to use

Support Rating
I haven't had the need to call for any support at all yet for FreeConferenceCall.com. It has just worked splendidly for me. That being said, when I first downloaded it and got started using it there was a wizard which made every section and button very clear on what it does. It was easy to get started by following the wizard. I imagine then that their customer service will be just as good.

Sometimes there is a disconnect between support and customer success. We had an issue where the support team was automatically assigning numbers to our extensions without informing us. This was something that was not communicated to our account manager. I would just recommend to pay attention to your account when changes are made.

Alternatives Considered
FreeConferenceCall.com is much cheaper than Zoom overall and on a per-user count. We also believe the ease of use is more beneficial with FreeConferenceCall vs. Zoom. It is easier to set up than Zoom and offers quicker support. Being the admin of the call is also super easy.

I haven't used anything else too closely related but Skype for Business has a lot of the same issues. Vonage's abilities and pros way outweigh the cons. I don't think I have heard of more viable software to fit our needs in the market right now. It has become essential to my workflow.

Return on Investment
  • Saved time on having to meet sales reps in person.
  • Goal setting and objectives are much clearer when being able to talk with someone when seeing them. Not having to correct mistakes or clarify things later on because things "weren't clear" isn't much of an issue when a video conference is used.
  • Being able to utilize a free option is the ultimate ROI - it costs nothing!

  • Cut down phone hardware expense since the soft phone is free and easier to use.
  • Text is becoming a more important and effective way to reach clients. Some will not answer a call or accept voicemail but respond quickly to text messages.
  • Allows me to work from anywhere with smart phone app saving hours at work.
