Dashlane Password Manager works really well for situations where we need to share access to client portals or government filing sites, since multiple people can log in without ever seeing the actual password and we can cut off access right away when it’s no longer needed. It is also great for onboarding and offboarding since new hires or interns can get the logins they need quickly and we don’t have to pass around spreadsheets. Another strong use case is meeting compliance expectations because it shows clients we are serious about security and password hygiene. Where it’s less useful is in environments that already use single sign-on since that already centralizes access and makes Dashlane Password Manager feel redundant. It can also be a little frustrating if you rely heavily on mobile since the autofill doesn’t always work smoothly across different apps.

Based on my experience, Password Genie is well suited for small to medium-sized businesses that need to manage login information for a moderate number of employees and external partners. The app's user-friendly interface and features like password generation, secure storage, and syncing across multiple devices make it easy for employees to access the information they need and for IT administrators to manage and monitor usage. The app's team management feature is also beneficial for organizations that need to share login information with specific teams or individuals. However, Password Genie may be less appropriate for larger organizations with more complex needs. The app's limited integrations and browser support, as well as its limited sharing and customization options, may not be sufficient for organizations that need to manage login information for a large number of employees and external partners, or for those that use a wide range of tools and platforms. Additionally, the app's reporting feature is also not as advanced as some other password managers, which may not be enough for some IT administrators who need more detailed data and analysis.

Pros
  • Ensuring secure & unique passwords created for each account.
  • Allowing the company to see a "security score" of how secure the team's password management is.
  • Sharing passwords securely between employees.
  • A "vault" for storing other secure information (notes, credit cards, etc.)
  • Free Hotspot Shield VPN included in our tier of accounts.

  • It can generate strong, random passwords, reducing the risk of weak passwords being used and making it easier for us to implement good password hygiene.
  • It can automatically log users into their accounts, saving time and reducing the risk of typos or mistakes that could result in security incidents.
  • It can be used on multiple devices, including desktop and mobile devices, allowing users to access their password vault from anywhere.

Cons
  • Initial setup was a little difficult.
  • User SSO invite and sign on would not work at first but this seems to have been improved/fixed.
  • The extension on websites doesn't work sometimes and will need to be refreshed if you open a new tab but have already logged in before.

  • Limited browser support: Password Genie currently only works on a select number of browsers, this may limit the users who are using some specific browsers.
• Limited sharing options: While the app has a built-in team management feature, it may be limited for some organizations with more complex sharing and collaboration needs.
  • Limited customization: Some users find that the app's interface and settings are not customizable enough to meet their specific needs.

It has served us very well until now and at the pricepoint it doesn't make us second guess our current relationship.

Usability
Dashlane Password Manager is great for the price. Some feature sets of competitors are lacking, but I'm happy with what we get for the spend. We are a small enough company that I can walk people through the steps, and it isn't something that comes up enough to complain about. Password generation, storage and use are all great.

We've had no issues with Dashlane. I can't speak to their customer service because I have not personally needed to contact them. I guess that speaks about their product if we've not had any issues to reach out about. Great for supporting data/information on multiple platforms that are shared among team members.

I use Proton Pass in my personal life as part of the Proton suite of products, and it's a fantastic, lightweight, and robust service. I personally prefer supporting a solid, privacy, freedom focused company with my personal money, but as far as comparing goes, I'd say Dashlane wins the intuitive interface battle with ProtonPass (not that it's terrible), but ProtonPass wins for listening to customers and developing a dedicated desktop application. As for the comparison with LastPass, I think LastPass might nudge out Dashlane for the intuitive score, but they are practically both at the same level in every way. I'd be happy to use either one

Free open source version was a bit scary to use as this has confidential information stored. This application was cost effective compared to the other products. Capturing of password was great on this product compared to the other products. ManageEngine password manager is an excellent product, however the product is very expensive compared to Password Genie. Hence the appropriate and wise solution was Passwrd Genie for us

  • The product it self cannot be deemed very expensive
  • It does what it is buit for, hence I am doubtful that there could be a proper means to calculate the ROI of the product
  • This tool is defenetly a must for admins as when they tend to leave the organization this tool can be really helpful in knowledge transfer sessions.
