RegOnline has been well-suited for providing registration for participants as well as payment options in the same place. That is literally all that my department uses it for, and it is very well-suited for this purpose (though pricey). And although it is pricey, it was one of the only approved options by my university to accept credit card payments for our annual conference, as other options could not be properly tracked by the university. So for this purpose, RegOnline is very well-suited. I think that if someone needed to build an event registration page that did not require payment options as a necessity, then RegOnline would be less suited for use. It still can easily track participants, but I think there are better options out there for those who only need the most basic of services. I also think that since RegOnline has provided additional formatting capabilities, that it does handle the registration pages better than it has in the past. However, these still need improvement, with the ability to rearrange the order of required and optional questions.

It worked for what we needed but it clearly was not meant to work for youth sports registration. It needed several updates to make it work. I would not recommend it for a youth sports program, again. However, it could be super useful in a professional setting.

  • Reports - we are able to pull so many reports on any information in the system. Anytime someone asks for data we are able to pull it from the system.
  • Registration - this was our first year using the system and there were bumps but once we all got used to the system it was easy for users and the information will save year to year saving our families time.
  • Payment - all users are automatically signed up for a payment plan ensuring that no one shows up to camp without having paid their full balance. This also means there is less administrative time used to track payments.

Cons
  • One of the areas that RegOnline could improve on is the price. Because of the expense $3.55 per registration, the Department is unable to use the software for other events. We have mine training classes that we couldn't use RegOnline for because of the expense.
  • RegOnline was not able to directly deposit registration fees collected from participants for other events and as a result we are unable to use it for those events.

  • Customer service is slow and there is no way to speak to a human.
  • There are small problems with the system that developers never seem to fix.

It can be time consuming to start a new project, however it's nice that you can duplicate a project and edit from there. I think that while some of the setup takes a while, once it's running smoothly it's definitely worth the cost and time and will pay for itself quickly.

We've never had an issue they couldn't resolve in one phone call.

Any and every time we have had an issue, we have had a solution found for us. Working across different time zones, cultures, and languages - RegPack has always been there for us. We have been invited to provide input and opinions on new functionalities (particularly around reporting), and have always found them to be quick and efficient with their responses. Super impressive.

Alternatives Considered
The Department also uses RegFox for training events as well as conferences. One of the main reasons they use RegFox is because of the price, it only charges $0.99 per registration whereas RegOnline charges $3.55 per registration. Because we are a state agency, that can make a big difference to our budget. That being said it is easier to build multi-track events in RegOnline.

Apart from the fact that RegOnline was discontinued, we have found that RegPack has met all of our needs and certainly exceeded our expectations in customer service. We were particularly pleased with the function that allows us to pre-set payment plans, and then basically forget. This means less human intervention, fewer errors, and happy clients.

Return on Investment
  • RegOnline has been a major time-saver. Before RegOnline, we were getting emails and calls all through the registration window. Now, 99% of attendees are able to register independently and manage their own registrations.

  • It saves time and therefore reduces labor costs.
  • Some users find it confusing so that takes a bit of time away from staff.
  • It would be helpful to run the payments through the processor of our choice, i.e. Square.
