Conga CLM vs. ContractZen

With having all of our contracting through the Salesforce system, the ability to allow our legal teams to do more with generating documents, have controls over redlines, etc is ideal. When sales needs to make additional revisions to the underlying data, however, it can be lacking in strong tools.

This is a big step up from our use of an Excel spreadsheet to manage hundreds of clients. There is more functionality in the product than we are currently using. It would be useful to learn from others how they are using the tool as we might discover some improved efficiency that we haven't considered.

The current version is probably about a five. The new version, I have not used it a lot. I've only done some testing around in it, not a lot. I'd say it's probably a seven or eight.

The capture of the new contracts is more important than the old contracts, somewhat counterintuitively. Once you start saving time using the electronic signing and retrieval, adding old material is easier. Old material additions fit our annual schedule as we've done them during periods of less administrative work.

We looked at several contract management tools like Adobe Acrobat Sign for business, dousign cl, and Ironclad before choosing conga clm. While each had its strengths, conga clm stood out because of its powerful automation, deep Salesforce integration , and flexible setup options. Unlike the others it offers a complete solution everything from creating and approving contracts to getting the signed all in one place. It turned out to be the best fit for our growing company since it handles complex processes easily and keeps everyone across departments on the same page.

The barrier of entry with ContractZen was so low. Competition offered a paid proof-of-concept, multiple sales call, and pre-sales analysis for which we had no time and had low interest. ContractZen gave us a demo in 30 minutes, gave me an account and walked me through the product. The cost was significantly lower. Yes, features were fewer in ContractZen but the features were the right ones we needed. Security of the system was adequate and it was cloud-based, which meant we didn't have to maintain servers on premise. Onboarding was easy and describing the system to others to get buy-in was exceptionally easy.
