Conceptboard is useful in collaboration, brainstorming, ideation, and concept writing. These activities are especially useful for my function under the Consumer Insights division as we do a lot of these sessions that engage several people from different departments to be able to come up with good ideas, concepts, products, and strategies. I honestly can't think of scenarios where this tool would be less appropriate.

FigJam is perfect for the early stages of a project, where every member from cross-functional teams can participate, because it’s intuitive and has a very low entry barrier.

Pros
  • We can determine the exact person in the team if he or she has made any changes in a particular board which helps everyone to be on the same page.
  • Storytelling was made easy. Now we don't need to go on multiple platforms like google meet, online spreadsheet etc. in order to make certain document
  • Audio / visual calling feature is amazing. You just need a reliable internet connection.
  • Eliminating manual errors through digital scrum
  • Ease of collaboration between different team

Cons
  • The sticky note tool glitches and behaves as if it were moving on a grid.
  • PDF upload tool does not work fast. Maybe a PDF merge algorithm could be added.
  • The selection area is not visible when dragging the eraser tool.

  • love to see it kept feature light ... already seeing the little creeping features like timing clocks, AI help, etc ...

I don't use it often, because the organization I work in uses a different environment on a commo basis. This is rather used between the designers, who prototype the solutions in Figma - they just have it as a workbook/notebook for their ideas. However, if those need to be shared with stakeholders or other organization members, the designers are expected to use a different environment.

Alternatives Considered
Initially, we selected Conceptboard due to its quick TAT with respect to integration and implementation. Also, it is a quite cheaper option as compared to its direct competitors. The main reason to select Conceptboard was - 1. The infinite canvas really helped with longer sessions 2. Pricing 3. Free version and pretty good customer support

It is similar, but it provides more usable solutions for brainstorming sessions and presentation purposes. Now empowered with AI and some new cool stuff, it may be the most dangerous competitor to FigJam. However, it will win the race if FigJam is more responsive and gets more attached to Figma, where the prototyping takes place.
