This device appears to be better suited on the edge of networks and less capable as a core device. It is very suitable to provide high bandwidth connectivity to the customer networks as well as providing adequate bandwidth to the core network.

• Versatility for use with cloud applications.

• Increased backwards compatibility would allow for more existing or older hardware to be installed within the new chassis if physically possible.
• Streamlined OS upgrades, and the NCS have taken steps to avoid having the reload the entire device when upgrading software, but can be further improved.
• Continued upgrades to hardware results in longer shelf life for the chassis, allowing less frequent purchases and upgrades.

We did not consider any other alternatives, the NCS 5000 fit the bill for what we were looking for and we pulled the trigger.
