Medisoft is very helpful when it comes to creating patients and setting them up in chart form. However, we have come across an issue where we have several duplicate charts for the same patient. I wish there was a way that Medisoft could warn the user if a patient has already been created. Also, similarly, I have several insurance companies that are duplicates. To the tune of 1500. It's a very difficult process to weed through them and select the appropriate insurance.
Epic is very good on the medical side and continues improving mental health and dental care. Having integrated telehealth via Zoom was a game-changer. During COVID, it was vital to have telehealth options and to ensure it was completely HIPAA Compliant and easy to document inside their health record.
I would like to see an option that allows the user to mark a claim as "crossed over to secondary" when posting primary payments. Ideally there would be a button or box to tick, which would then mark the claim as crossed over and also mark the secondary claim as sent. This process must currently be done manually and can be quite tedious and time consuming. If we do not go through and mark these crossed over claims as sent before sending a batch of secondary claims, we typically end up with quite a few "duplicate claim" rejections.
I would like to be able to tie one guarantor account to multiple patient accounts and have a listing of those patient accounts pop up (or otherwise be visible) whenever the guarantor account is accessed. This can be a frustrating issue when you have 2 or more children from the same family as patients and need to be able to assign the same guarantor for each. While it is currently possible to assign the same guarantor to more than one account, the system fails to pull information from each account when printing statements, resulting in incorrect balances being reported on guarantor driven statements.
I would like to have a print option available for more areas within Medisoft. For instance, I would love to be able to print the list of "ready to bill" claims directly from the Claim Management screen. It would also be quite useful to be able to print the transaction notes associated with individual claims.
My organization has been using the Epic platform for 10 years and counting! Epic has continuously improved and updated the system to align with current best practices and meet the needs of members and their patients. As an FQHC, we provide medical, dental, and mental health services, and it is essential to have access to all the patients' health information in one place. Integrating Care Everywhere and Telehealth options embedded directly in the EHR has greatly improved our ability to take the best care of each patient who walks through our doors.
A dedicated support staff for each module/area is provided by Epic. This is beneficial for points of contact, however, not all support staff are created equal, and there seems to be high turnover in these roles(staff seems to turn over every 1-2 years). This can make it challenging for continuity and quick support resolution as new staff are not as familiar with organization-specific needs, environments, and/or questions.
I prefer Medisoft due to ease of use, functionality and custom report features. In my experience with other software programs I found them to be either less user friendly or lacking in key features that we require for our particular practice.
Epic has more features and seems to be used by most hospital systems, which means information can be shared between systems. It is not compatible with Cerner, McKesson, or any other of the less commonly used products and we cannot view information from such facilities. I believe Epic has the most features. It automatically saves entries, unlike Quadrimed, for example, which does not save and if you accidentally get logged out you lose your information.
Improved Customer Satisfaction: After the initial implementation phase, I have seen increases in patient satisfaction. This is due to the increased transparency regarding their care as well as an increase in paid claims.
Increased Revenue: In some cases I have seen Medicare denial rates drop from high 80's and 90's down to single digits. I have seen incredible jumps in the time payment is received from an approved claim.
