Archiving is almost exactly what I'm looking for in a solution, especially now that it's fully rolled out to our users. The one pain point is the initial setup of the archive, which is a little lacking. Some archiving solutions simply need an administrator account to thread all of the old data in the inboxes. For Zix Information Archiving (ZixArchive), I must manually export a PST and send it to Zix Support for upload. I'd like to have users' entire mailboxes automatically uploaded into the archiver without several fairly time-consuming steps.

Google vault is good to use when you have large document files which needs to be put in cold storage or turn cold storage to hot storage in case the documents need to be retrieved. I t works well on automating tasks around till how long one needs to hold on to the data and then retire the documents as well. Some areas where the Google Vault would be less useful is if some documents needs to be used frequently and they are put in the vault as Google Vault is expensive to use very frequently.

Cons
  • Setup (would be nice to get historical data from before setup)
  • Download a copy of a message instead of just delivering from within the individual message
  • Integration of archive into other features (e.g., threat protection/tools)--the ability to get to the archiver's copy of the message would be nice

  • More export options are available to the user, specifically allowing exported data to be imported into a new account easily
  • The interface is very basic and easy to use, but the dashboard could show more information to make it more usable

Veritas Enterprise Vault although the best backup solution present was quite expensive and difficult to implement at an org level. Google Vault is very smooth and easy to implement with orgs already using Google Workspace for business. The only reason for selecting Google Vault was a quick TAT for implementation but if your org has time for that, Veritas Vault is the best option wrt Storage, discovery, post-sales support, pricing, etc.
