S&P Capital IQ vs. CoRepo

Cap IQ is well suited for analyzing security pricing and valuation, tracking stock performance over time, looking up comparable transactions, and analyzing valuations on an industry basis. The service is also well suited for charting and data analysis purposes.

I have to go through a lot of data, searching for healthcare companies matching specific criteria. And it took a lot of my time to filter through google search results, opening dozens, hundreds of pages to find what I was looking for. With corepo.org it got much! easier and faster. These inbuilt search filters are amazing. If you need to search companies for any reason—CoRepo is definitely something you should try. Some of my colleagues also started using CoRepo for marketing and analysis. It is free for now, so why not save time and money on daily researches. This tool still has room for improvement, but as long as it is free—it is a good substitution to some pretty expensive analogs I used before.

• Great help desk function, quick and responsive
• Excellent auditability of financial data with easy traceback to source documents

• Filters companies in search by very specific criteria.
• Saves time when doing research.
• Provides company information which is hard to find online.

• The scope and depth of the collected data can be increased.
• The UI with little icons and buttons may be difficult at first but may become intuitive. The UI isn't horrible but might be better.
• Global data coverage, but US and UK markets have the greatest details. MENA and APAC lack.

• Make filters more visible, they are not obvious for new users.
• Add some descriptions or best practices.
• Allow users to create their own lists and share them.

S&P CIQ Pro has great data, however, the new pro version is currently difficult to use given how slow the data is to process

We had Capital IQ in addition to Bloomberg. It was much easier for a new person to use Capital IQ than Bloomberg. The ease of use was a huge selling point for us. Yahoo finance on the other hand is free, but you cannot gather all the data you may need in one location like you can in Capital IQ.

From my experience, CoRepo provides better search results, with links to the main page of company's official website, allows to group companies on varied criteria. While at Crunchbase information is often outdated or insufficient. Had to verify with official company websites or LinkedIn. LinkedIn Sales Navigator has fewer filters, so I have to additionally filter search results, sometimes manually. And CoRepo is free, while Crunchbase and LinkedIn are not)
