Blue Yonder Luminate Planning vs. New Horizon Supply Chain Planning Suite

JDA WMS is a tier 1 solution for warehousing environments. Due to its price, it may not be suitable for smaller operations. Since the system allows for multiple clients, and since my company is a 3PL, JDA WMS works well for 3PL providers.

New Horizon Supply Chain Planning Suite is a very user-friendly system which gives you the latitude to change your forecasting models based on the product and sales trends. It is also very easy to export and import data to transfer information to and from Excel files as it uses an Excel like platform. Therefore, it gives you the control to be able to control your forecast where needed due to sales promotions or loss of sales distribution.

• Forecasting product sales
• Displays key data points such as historical sales and trends
• Allows control of forecasting models based on product and sales type
• Very user friendly and Excel compatible
• Interfaces with other systems well

• Efficiency - At times the response time to retrieve the data from DB could be improved.
• Cheaper pricing - can provide some concession with the pricing.
• Training - JDA could offer more free training programs.

• Would like to be able to form my own functions using information already in the system.
• When switching back and forth from worksheets and sub-worksheets you can lose your place because it does not always go back to the same place.

It's still an older system which could use some updating.

JDA WMS was a large step up from our legacy Infor solution. It filled many gaps that we couldn't fill with Infor's system. Rather than continuing to build solutions in-house to account for customer requirements, we decided to implement JDA WMS and use all of that system's capabilities to handled what we needed in our warehouses. Granted, Infor's solutions have probably improved since 2007 when we changed, but those were my experiences back when we changed WMS providers.

We were using Demantra systems for our forecasting needs, but as new versions became available and old versions, which we had, were discontinued we found the need to either upgrade or look for a new system. The Demantra upgrade was very costly and New Horizon fit our needs while being on the cloud, so most all of the upgrades were done behind the scenes with no down time. The implementation was a breeze, and the customer service was always there when you needed it. Overall, it was a very good choice for us to make the change.

• Helps us maintain over an 80% forecast accuracy rating with our top 20 products.
• Gives us the information needed to plan our production schedules effectively.
• Helps us plan our inventory needs to hold the correct amount of inventory as the business requires.
