BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access vs. Oracle Secure Global Desktop

BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access is well suited to grand monitored privileged access to resources. It works in a proxy mode so end-users don't have direct access to servers. This can help prevent attacks on servers from users' machines since all the traffic to the servers goes through the Privileged Remote Access server which performs auth according to the policies. In cases where direct access to the servers/service from the end-user's machine is required, it is a little bit complicated to set up that kind of connection using protocol tunneling.

I believe Oracle Secure Global Desktop is better used on a larger device such as a desktop or laptop, as the Android platform is a bit confusing when initially introduced to fellow employees who were familiar with the other layout.

• It's comprehensive, intelligent and easy to use.
• It has lots of features i.e. it allows special commands to be used whereas the other programs don't allow them.
• This tool is effective in allowing you to access all your applications through a single sign-on page.
• Actively manage the ongoing operational use of network devices, hardware, and application access via Secure App.
• Bomgar Privileged Access deploys on-premises via a hardened physical or virtual appliance, or through the Bomgar Secure Cloud.

• Very secure.
• Simple layout that is easily understood by different levels of experience.
• My company works with Linux and Windows - Oracle Secure Global Desktop easily operates on both platforms.

• One way to use it is by using a machine as an access proxy, this machine being Linux, has limitations such as copy and paste and does not allow access to more than one web access.
• Improve the desktop application view.

• Is not supported on Apple devices.
• Support on Android - the functionality feels flimsy and the layout isn't as user friendly as I thought it would be in comparison to when it is used on a desktop platform.
• Initially, when first using the product a year or so ago, I received a lot of complaints of random error messages. Though that problem seems to have been solved in the interim.

It accomplishes all of our remote access needs, our users require little to no training when being setup for remote access for the first time.

Tarantella gave us a lot of issues, but with Oracle Secure Global Desktop [we got] the huge portfolio of Oracle applications from almost any browser, without the headache of application dependencies, plugins, java etc. My fellow employees like the way Oracle Secure Global Desktop gives us the "feel" of many little desktops but with one machine.

• Improve security by improving the management of external remote access
• Help us meet Remote Access Compliance Requirements by creating audit trails, session forensics, and giving access monitoring and reporting data
• Simplify employee access and workflows by giving employees the exact amount of privileged access to systems and applications they need, without hindering productivity or overwhelming the service desk

• Efficiency is definitely a good description. The easy to use platform allows fellow employees to move through their online apps with ease.
• Applying new online apps is a lot easier, as we do not have to rely on a central server to pull information.
• As our client is national, it's good to have quick, reliable cloud access to all sensitive materials without worrying about security issues.
