Azure Data Lake Analytics vs. Azure Databricks

For us we have an enterprise of SQL users at all skill levels, and this product is very SQL friendly and extremely fast in creation of data aggregates and analysis. If you are an Azure storage user, considering using Lake Analytics over top of your blob or any other storage just adds complementary services and functions native to your existing architecture.

Having access to all databases and tables in one place is what has helped me and my team to function better. The in built functionality/access to SQL and Python is definitely an added bonus! The icing on the cake is the ability to export your data into an Excel spreadsheet for additional analysis. If you have less to no working knowledge of SQL or Python, its better to look at alternatives.

• There's a bit of bias towards cloud with ADL Analytics. Depending upon a company's infra strategy and investment plans, there are some challenges with migration and integeration.
• Not worth the time/effort/money if the organization doesn't have "Volume" of data. Cost effective only when daily loads exceed around 1million.
• While training materials are available online, Adoption rate - Yet to pick up.

Based on my extensive use of Azure Databricks for the past 3.5 years, it has evolved into a beautiful amalgamation of all the data domains and needs. From a data analyst, to a data engineer, to a data scientist, it jas got them all! Being language agnostic and focused on easy to use UI based control, it is a dream to use for every Data related personnel across all experience levels!

Azure Data Lake simplifies extensive data analysis. It runs Hadoop, HDInsight, and Data Lakes, and even complex queries run smoothly and quickly. We write queries to transform data and extract insights instead of configuring hardware. It can handle any size job by adjusting the power. Azure's servers, networking, and data entry are fantastic. It provides security and assured data access.

Against all the tools I have used, Azure Databricks is by far the most superior of them all! Why, you ask? The UI is modern, the features are never ending and they keep adding new features. And to quote Apple, "It just works!" Far ahead of the competition, the delta lakehouse platform also fares better than it counterparts of Iceberg implementation or a loosely bound Delta Lake implementation of Synapse
