Additional DetailsAwardco Enterprise is priced fairly depending on your recognition program needs, and is often much lower than the industry standard. Our previous customers have found that they can use a portion of their previous recognition budget to implement and utilize Awardco, and the rest of the funds can be directed immediately back to their employees, thus rewarding them even more than before. We also offer volume discounts if you have over 200 employees! Awardco is a very well priced solution that allows for recognition, interactions and more. I think it’s well suited for small to mid sized companies who want to honour and recognize their coworkers but not put tons of bloat into a software to do so. It may be less appropriate if your company has employees in multiple countries or is over 200 people.

Small Improvements is well suited in any sector or organization given that it tracks employee performance, 1:1 meetings, employee recognition and so on. I've used other tools previously like ones built in-house, Excel spreadsheets and even competitors like Workday but Small Improvements is leaps ahead of those other tools in its ability to execute well on employee performance tracking, recognition and meetings.

Cons
  • I would like the system to be able to send email notifications to more than the employee and the HR Manager. It would be great if we could include the manager and the GM as well. Now I just forward the message to the others.

  • Being able to edit projects more easily (and have a documented edit history) would be beneficial.
  • Possibly integrations with popular platforms (such as JIRA) to give expanded detail of project tracking.
  • Gantt charts would be a nice to have for a top level management view.

Usability
It’s not super user friendly compared to other apps I have used in the past, and it also offers not as many partners. One feature that would improve it, would be connecting award bucks to a digital credit card. That way employees can spend it on what they want without having to get a visa gift card which is the current solution/ work around

Support Rating
I am giving a "middle of the road" rating of 5 because I don't have experience with Awardco support. I have never had to reach out to the support team for anything, so I don't have any substantial feedback in this particular area. The program is so easy to use, so I've never needed to contact the support team.

The customer support is quick and thorough, they have access to our account to answers are tailored to our needs. They also have a good knowledge base and self-help site with some video tutorials and FAQs which saved us time as opposed to just calling or emailing support. For the times that we did reach out, it only took one response to get our issue resolved.

Alternatives Considered
I have only used a few other award programs and selections have been extremely limited. There is nothing worse than receiving a catalog with 10-15 items to choose from and you don't really want any of the items. It is even worse when the company spends two to three times the cost on a gift that can be purchased elsewhere for much, much less. The employee has an idea how much something costs and as a result feels like the company didn't appreciate them by giving an inexpensive gift. Awardco gifts are dollar for dollar.

While still far from perfect, Lattice has much stronger goal-setting and 1:1 features (see my list of areas for improvement above). At another company, we put all OKR in Confluence and used Google Drive (specifically Google Docs) for 1:1 notes and performance evaluations. While it may seem cumbersome to conduct something like a performance review process via Google Docs, I appreciated the flexibility that it offered. I also still think that shared Google Doc is a perfectly fine tool for 1:1 notes (it even has assignable tasks now), and Confluence is a perfectly fine tool for defining OKR and tracking progress. Keep it simple (c).

Return on Investment
  • We are a company that thrives on competition & rewards. Awardco has helped us simplify that rewards process, and it's much easier for us as we create competition prizes.
  • Our employees are much more engaged in the competitions because they know they will win points that can be used on just about anything.
  • Since we've started using Awardco we have hit record numbers in sales in a month.

  • Before we had Small Improvements, personal goal setting was completely disorganized. Some managers made sure it was done, likewise many did not.
  • Having past goals collected in one repository has been a blessing. I couldn't imagine not having Small Improvements or something comparable.
