Arcserve SaaS Backup vs. Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup

We have various customers within the insurance and law sectors that frequently have to refer back to legacy emails and documents and having the luxury of indefinite backups mean it’s incredibly convenient to recover these files in the event local copies have been deleted. Where it sometimes falls down is when customers have wanted to recover emails that have allegedly been sent/received by disgruntled employees, but were sent, read and deleted in between backup jobs.

For its price the product is very cost effective. For our university it's important to be able to backup students as well as employees and other products tend to have at least limited cost to students. As there are so many students in our university the cost involved with other products would make them too costly. As the amount of data that is involved with M365 is so vast, it's also nice not to have extra cost involved for space used. The product is cloud based, so for some organizations that might be a problem.

• Creates a cloud backup of all aspects of Office 365
• Retains the backups for as long as we need them
• Allows us to easily locate files, folders, email accounts, or email messages to restore them

• Number of licensed users can be unclear at first glance.
• Items created and deleted in between backup jobs are never backed up.

• The final output when downloading is a bit bulky and hard to find things based on subject headers.
• Wish there was a range to export out.
• The UI is not as snappy as I would have expected.

The product is very simple to use . That is a good thing and a bad thing as there could be some more advanced view or filtering options if you for example have to restore entire organization units data. There could also me more information from the whole organizations backup status

in a few clicks the backup was running. The first restore was exiting since we didn't know what to expect.

Barracuda Cloud to Cloud backup was never really given a fair comparison due to our existing relationships with Arcserve. From research and light sales meetings, the products seem to be the same premise with no real obvious benefit to either. Our choice was a matter of preference for vendor.

Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup integrates well with our Barracuda Backups, email protection, and impersonation protection products with a simple portal to interface with all products.

• Being so cheap, it’s easy to package and sell as a service.
• Being so convenient, it sometimes can drain internal resource as clients can rely on it too much.
• Great sales/pre-sales team that can assist.

• Helps me worry a little less that in the worst case scenario, mailboxes & teams are easily restorable to continue with online learning at the very least.
• Whilst we weren't spending any money on backing up our Microsoft 365 data, I would say that it's worth every penny. Especially in a disaster recovery scenario.
• It also proves useful in instances where a user accidentally loses or deletes an important email or file in their mailbox/team. It can easily restore what has been lost.
