Arcserve SaaS Backup vs. Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup

We have various customers within the insurance and law sectors that frequently have to refer back to legacy emails and documents and having the luxury of indefinite backups mean it’s incredibly convenient to recover these files in the event local copies have been deleted. Where it sometimes falls down is when customers have wanted to recover emails that have allegedly been sent/received by disgruntled employees, but were sent, read and deleted in between backup jobs.

I have yet to identify a short coming with this solution. I have found it easy to configure, manage, and restore items when needed. Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup is also very proactive at managing our account and assisted us in validating the configuration for any new functions that need to be implemented.

• Restores can be very grannual, for example to restore single email message
• Implemention of the product is quite easy and fast

• Items created and deleted in between backup jobs are never backed up.

• When performing a restore, the search filter & the mailbox filter button can be confused, depending on what you want to achieve.

Easy to configure, easy to manage, and easy to utilize when needing to recover data. If you have questions or issues, Barracuda support is quick to assist.

in a few clicks the backup was running. The first restore was exiting since we didn't know what to expect.

Barracuda Cloud to Cloud backup was never really given a fair comparison due to our existing relationships with Arcserve. From research and light sales meetings, the products seem to be the same premise with no real obvious benefit to either. Our choice was a matter of preference for vendor.

Features wise products are pretty similar, but Barracuda is more cost effective when you take into account students in our organizations. This is the main reason we selected Barracuda, to be to protect all users cost effectively. Veeam might have more features, but the cost of licensing outweighs in favour of Barracuda.

• Being so cheap, it’s easy to package and sell as a service.
• Being so convenient, it sometimes can drain internal resource as clients can rely on it too much.
• Great sales/pre-sales team that can assist.

• Lost productivity when someone deletes a cloud stored item and we can retrieve it.
• Rouge creation of teams and no owners are assigned- we get notified.
