Acronis Cyber Protect vs. NovaBACKUP

Provide data protection for small to media size clients. Sends comprehensive email reports upon job completion. Physical to Virtual Migrations. Backing up physical and virtual machines. Alerting on backup job success or failure. Support is could be a little better, but it is adequate. The application is frequently updated and supports the latest operating systems from Microsoft and VMware.

• Image based backups. After the initial backup, the backups happen quite quickly. This allows for multiple backups per day.
• We have different classes of data which requires different retention policies. Acronis makes that easy to manage.
• Restoration can be done directly to hardware or to a VM. This makes it easy to migrate a physical server to a VM.

We have renewed our subscription over the course of a few years now. We used to use Backup Exec and it was tedious and difficult to obtain our backups when needed. Acronis just fits our environment style and the way we prefer to do business and use our third party software.

Although the capacity range for the price is impressive, the access to the user console is not trivial and it is necessary to be guided for the first visits. And also since there a broad support of data storage technologies for back-ups, the connection process can be sometimes tricky, not surprisingly. It is why the Professionnal Services teams is so important at Acronis to help facilitate the installation processes.

I don't have any real key 'insights' per say except that it wasn't difficult at all, and do not be afraid to dabble in its tools and settings. It is quite intuitive with built in common sense. I cannot say enough good things about our companies experience when using this backup software.

Not as polished as Veeam, but a lot cheaper when backing up data from over 10 servers. Otherwise, if you are backing up just one server, and don't need much in the way of support, the Veeam Community edition is a very cost-effective backup solution. When comparing the support and cost of Novabackup for a small to mid-size business, it is a very reliable solution.
